How come chao is playing and not wu? i thought this was the challenge of Champions? didn't wu just win the wpc?

i know reyes won the dcc this year; can anyone tell me what the other players won to get them an invitation to play in this year's CoC?

I believe Wu was invited even before winning the WPC but can't attend because he is too young to be in the venue.

With special thanks to Christopher Adams who is providing me the updates, it will be Engert vs Owen and Feijen vs Chao tomorrow.

He & Walden have always gone neck & neck in sooo many tournaments, at least years ago they did. I sure hope he's shooting good, he has to in this event, I doubt if there is much room for error with the players and the way it is set up that any one of them can win.
So how did the Tulsa tournament go?

I wasn't there for the finals, but it was Gabe and James in the final and James came out on top. He won, Gabe second, Greg Hogue third and Randy Jones 4th. Really was a good tournament, and well ran as always, by Danny and Evelyn Dysart.

I blew out in the fourth round of play. Not what I expected, but dug my own grave, so had to jump in it and let 'em cover me up with dirt! :)

btw, Gabe was shooting great, but I think Walden stopped off somewhere and got some billiard salt to put on his food. He was shooting better than I've ever seen him. Everyone could tell from the start, James was going to be tough to beat.

Later,
Bob

Thanks for that info Bob! Yeah, some tournaments are better than others! Funny about digging your own grave! haha Unfortunately everyone does that from time to time.
I talked to Gabe the day after that tourney, but he was golfing, so didn't talk much. And talked again today for a bit.
Does anyone have any news yet on his match???

Engert vs Chao in the finals.

I have league tonight, but will post results as soon as I get home.

I can't believe this slipped by me and I wasn't able to bet my last 25 beans on somebody!

The practice table is where the action is!

I enjoyed the whole tournament, but being a few feet from the playerers at the practice table was the best. I got to see Neils Fejin, Alan Rolon, Fong pang Chao, yoshihiro Kitatani up close at the practice table set up in a main area as you enter the Casino.

Neils is so solid in fundamentals and is like a ball making machine. I just don't see how any one in the world can beat him with his talent, focus, and perfect mechanics. When you see him on video, it doesn't do justice to seeing him live. He is totally still when he shoots and his forearm is the onlything moving in his stroke. Very little elbow movement.

Alan Rolon has a great stroke. Very loose style like Efren or Bustamante. I hope he does well in the tournament he is playing in, in Newyork this weekend. I was very impressed by Alan's game. I see why he is a star player in Puerto Rico.

Fong - Pang Chao - What a simple approach to pool. Everything he does looks like is so effortless. what a master of the jump shot. He made a jump during the tournament that looked impossible. Less than a balls width from the object bal and made the shot on the balll. During one of the non-televised matches unforuntately.

yoshihiro Kitatani. from Tokyo. I am not sure how old this guy is but he looks very young. And this kid has game. Very impressed by his stroke. Very good at spinning the cue ball with English. Really makes it dance and is deadly accurate when spinning the ball left or right. I thought he would do much better in the tournament than he did. Really think he will win many tournaments in his future, whether is over here or in his country.

The rest of the players all have great games as well but didn't get to see them in action on the practice table. But watching them in their matches for the tournamen was very educational as well.

I got a few photos of close ups of Neils on the practice table of grip, stance and things like that but was using my wifes camera without the flash and they didn't come out so good. I will take a look at what I have and post a few of them when I get a chance.

Click on the news section. Really feel bad for Neils. One shot a few inches the other way and it could have been him. Wish him luck in future tournaments. It was very nice meeting Neils and hope to see him in another tournament very soon.
The photo that I got autographed by neils will be in my pool room and will inspire me during my practice sessions.

We were at Mohegan Sun tonite. Chao won against Engert.

It was a great match for Chao, not making any mistake at all with his careful approch at every shot.

Sure it was worth of the trip from manhattan.
