Yeah, sounds like that will be best. (aint broke don't fix it) :)

Is why someone can't take off the wide plastic ring, cut it, put the slim brass or gold ring in, then put the rest of the plastic ring back on? Should be just a matter of cutting out the thickness of the metal ring. I know we are talking very fine cutting...but hmmm...

Oh well, as long as it plays like a predator is all I care about...just won't be perty...which I aint perty either so at least my cue and I will match.

How would suggest TAKING OFF the plastic ring, it's glued on?

That's a great question in which I have no answer. I am going to present this to a local cuemaker, one Pete Omen and see what he says...doesn't hurt to ask I always say.

Yes, it should be glued on, because if it isn't, then Predator would have a bit of a QC problem.
It shouldn't be too much trouble to either take the ring off with heat, or just turn it off, if Predator just presses it on with glue, instead of threading.
Then remove what needs to be removed, and add what needs to be added.
I wouldn't worry about the collar being a little longer than the collar on the butt, you just might start a trend :D .

What I would do is cut the whole black ring off, then replace it with a thin black, a thin brass, then another wide black ring. Very easy to do, but requires a bit of refinishing. Your local guy should be able to do it for about $40 or $50.

You are right on Sheldon, except I personally don't fire up my compressor, for less that $30. With todays finishes it's not as easy to touch up or blend in a spot. Instead I find it easier to lightly sand the whole Q & spray enough clear, to do the job. It's just my opinion...JER
