Hello everyone,

I was wanting to know what effects (in the hit of the shaft) are created when a person changes the brass insert from a 5/16-18 to a 5/16-14 thd brass insert.

And, from there, what is the proper way to do it...
How do you get the old one out...?

Should I drill it out and plug it...and then center drill it...and then drill to depth and OD for the insert...and then, seat the insert with epoxy...???

I'm scared to mess this up...so, I'm thinking of sending it or taking it to a pro cue repair guy...

I've done a bunch of tips...and a hand full of ferrules and a bunch of cleanings...but I'd like some advise on this procedure...

Please, and Thank You!

if you want something that will play better do a solid phenolic plug, drill and tap to your 5/16 x 14 pin.

Drill bore the old one.
Since the od of the insert is 7/16, bore the hole to 9/16 and re-plug it with maple.
Drill/bore thread for the new insert.
Gooping up the hole with epoxy hoping it'll hold the new insert is a hack job.
Heck, if you want that maple plug not to move, thread bottom past the collar and new brass insert ( the collar has 5/8 ID in most cases ) .
