Changing Balance Point

On a finished cue, what's the best way(s) to move the balance point forward? This question applies to cues with a weight bolt as well as those without a weight bolt.
Note: If the cue ends up being a little lighter overall, that's fine (up to 1 oz).

Thanks,
Mike J.

Remove weight bolts.
Heavier joint pin.
Heavier joint collar.
Add weight bolts behind the joint pin.
Add weight to the joint end of the shaft.
lead tape at the joint.
Tie a dead cat to the joint.

The last two might not be very wise.

What kind of cue is it? Where does it balance from the end of the butt cap now? Why do you want to move the balance forward?
What distance are you looking to move the balance forward?

Just a few Q's for an inquiring mind.

Will only work if red duct tape is used to hold in place

Tie a dead cat to the joint.
Cat must be gutted and de-furred before application

The last two might not be very wise.

I had a Scruggs where I experimented with changing weights by changing weight bolts. 1 oz changed the balance point of the cue by about an inch and it changed the charateristic of the cue a lot, in my opinion.

how do i change the balance point back 1/2 "?

I have a cue that is 19.2 inches balanced and I want it to be 18.75 balanced. How do i change it back?

the cue is 19ounces but i don't want to add a weight bolt.

I have a cat I'd like to donate if you elect to go for the last method.

you could also try using a headless weight bolt which would allow you to put it farther up into the cue

the farther up you add weight the more it will change the balance point.i guess it's common sense, but changing to a heavier shaft will really make a huge difference.

Based on Jazz and MAson thread, you can have it done by;

1. Find a lighter shaft by 1/2 oz.
2. If that doesn't help, you can add a 1/2 oz weight bolt in the rear.
