Changing Ferrules / Tips on a Predator 314/2

I was recently reading a thread here about an accidentally broken tenon on an expensive shaft. Having changed from a Lucasi Flexpoint to a Predator 314/2, I was wondering if those who actually know could inform us if there are any precautions that should be taken when changing a ferrule and or a tip on this shaft?

Reguards to changing ferrule on Predator shaft.

If I'm not mistaking. You have to be an
authorized Predator repair person or send
back to Predator to change the ferrule or you
void the warranty on the shaft.
 
I bought a z2 shaft a while back and didnt like it so I traded it to a buddy of mine. He hated it too after a while, so he took it to a repair guy. Not sure exactly what was done, but my guess is a dowel was put in the shaft, because the end result was a 1" ferrule was put on it. After that it played well, and was still LD. It wasnt as much as before but the hit was much better.
Point is you might change the hit for the better, but be prepared to lose some of the low squirt aspect.

Thanks Chuck Fields. Actually, I am in love with this shaft and i am just preparing for repairs much later down the road and thought I would seek advise well before I actually put any of it into effect.

The 314/2 has completely changed my thinking on shaft diameter, tips and of course, the application of english. Other than mad practicing, it turns out that a low deflection shaft is all my game needed- at least at this point.

To be sure, I can change the tip without voiding the warranty, correct?

Yes tip replacement is fine, no warranty issues. The ferrule should be fine as well, lots of people break with them even. Every once in a while one breaks, but I dont think the issue is as wide spread as some believe it to be.

I do not recommend breaking with your 314-2. They make break cues for a reason.

Sure people break with them, but I have also met someone who washes their shaft with soap and water after tournaments... And lets it airdry.
 
Thank you i8ap4t. No plans on breaking with this shaft. That sounds painful!!!
