changing pins?

pin difference

if i lay 10 cues on a table, 5 with 5/16 by 14 and 5 with 3/8 by 10 pins. is there anyone that can shoot with these 10 cues and tell the difference between the two pins?

I believe if one took his personal playing cue that he has been using for years and changed the pin, he might be able to discern a difference, albeit small.

Could someone pick up 10 different cues he does not know and play with them and pick out which were which? I would have to see it to believe it and would bet against. I say no, not with consistent and repeatable accuracy.

I would like to see a blind test done with your pin, 10 different cues. Five of them your pin with phenolic collars, and 5 with a 3/8x10 with identical phenolic collars. Different woods, different shafts, different makers, I have my doubts whether the average decent player could accurately select which joints were which, particularly if efforts were made to make all 10 balance the same.

If the only difference is the pin, then I would say yes. That is quite a difference in mass between those two pin styles.

Do the same test between a 14thread and an 18 thread, I'd say probably not.

A 3/8-10 vs Radial in that same test, I'd say yes.
