Changing the joint in a predator shaft?

At some point in the future I'll get my first custom cue. I currently play with a Viking with the Viking QR joint and a predator shaft. If I want to get my custom with two shafts, the cuemaker's shaft, and a predator shaft, but don't want to waste the predator shaft that I have, is there any way that a cuemaker can change the joint in the predator shaft, or am I stuck getting a whole new predator shaft? Hope this isn't a ridiculous question, but just trying to keep the price down so my wife doesn't kill me. If it's not possible I'd probably just pick a cuemaker with a reputation for making his own shafts low deflection, and get the cue with just one shaft.

Very simple fix, no worries. Your shaft can be altered to fit any butt you need. Another concern though is if the shaft's diameter is the same. For example if you have a 314 that fits a Meucci...the diameter may be a bit small on some other cues.
