changing tip on cheap Cuetec

I bought one of the cheap 79.00 cuetec to use as a break cue and it has the cheap leather tip, can the white ferrel and tip be replaced with one of those I guess phenolic ferrel tip combos? I think I have one in a drawer I bought a few months ago so would it be difficult to remove the existing and replace it with what I have?

where r you located? I am in western Ma. Changing a cuetec to a breaker that will hold up is easy to do....with the right tools and materials

Yes this can be done, I have done it too, but as Dave and Todd point out,experience and the right tools are needed. You should also post a picture of the phenolic ferrule/tip you want to use.

At least you should care enough about your Cuetec to spell "ferrule" correctly :thumbup:

More on the topic, don't do the combo. Just go with a nice hard leather tip or the Sure plastic tip - more grip!
For a couple of years now breaking hasn't really been about (pure) force, but finesse and accuracy. Which actually needs English on the break shot.
 
I don't mind going with a plastic tip over the combo, but I would need to buy the tip, and I wasn't sure on the spelling of ferrule or however it is spelled. I am in Tennessee, Clarksville to be exact, and I know that the tip at least is going to need to be changed out before long. So if someone can guide me to a tip I would be most thankful!
 
Try a Madman tip. Not expensive and I have had great results using them. Check with Cueman here on the forum; that's where I get mine. Chris is a world of help when it comes to installing cue tips.
 
White Diamond is my tip of choice. I have installed around 150 of them and only had 2 ask for a different tip. They break very well, and If you miscue hard on the break, I haven't seen the tip explode and chip like a lot of others that are on the market
The ferrule should get changed, with another mod. done, as the material is fairly soft.
