changing veneer colors?

can you dye a natural colored veneer on a finished cue? I am very picky about the cues that I buy and I absolutley wont buy a cue with a veneer patern I dont like. I recently found a cue that I almost bought but I cant get over the "ugly" veneers. They are black, natural, blue, natural and then the point is black. Every thing is good except the 2nd veneer. I dont like the natural color there. Can it be sanded as for a refinish and then that veneer be dyed a green or purple?
 
I would really like to say "No" but some people have a field day with magic markers today. Your better off just designing your own cue with the colors you like.
 
it would be very hard. if you take the finish off and want to color a veneer by hand, you have more patience than me. the veneer may or may not take the color as the glue used on each side of it probably has migrated into/thru the whole thing. best to order what you want.
 
Hi,

You could use pin stripe tape and an air brush. Tricky but doable to an air brush artist.

Best to sell the cue and buy the one you like. A lot less headaches and expense.

Yes it can be done, but is the cue worth the fist full of dollars it will take to do it. It requires a refinish and maybe a rewrap plus about that much $$ in time changing the color.
 
the cue is older and not made anymore. I was thinking about having a local cue maker do the refinish and I would dye the veneer. using pinstriping tape was what I was plnning on doing. I am not sure if I want to try it though. Thanks for the answers guys.
