Sources from Taiwan have confirm this controversial and much politicized move by their pool hero.
Of course the Taiwanese government is not happy about it and it's almost certain that he won't represent Taiwan anymore.
(But he'll still compete in the Bali Grand Final and World Champ because he's earned enough points)

This is a video where Yang got lecturing from Chao.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig8y0wpi2FA&NR=1

Their conversation(After i translate):

Chao: "Dont care about me, you just play your ball. Let it go and play your own, dun care about me!"

Commentator: "Yang has enormous respect for Chao and he wanted to make the shot simple for Chao. I think they had disagreements about the last rack."

Chao then continues: "Only when it comes to the problem ball then we will discuss, if not you just play your own and dun care about me. Because you want to make the shot easier and you chose the smaller target zone."

Chao then went to discuss about the previous rack, something about the 4 ball or the 2 ball and he wanted to tell yang not to take that route or path.... Yang then said "the first thing he wanted to do was to take that same path but wanted to discuss with chao to see how it goes"

Chao then said: "Your turn to break."

wow, they saw what he did with Yang and ponied up the cash!!!!

I guess he's done competing

China has always said, that they will take back Taiwan no matter how long it takes.

It looks like they have already started by buying them off, one pool player at a time. :D :D :D

Manny must have snuck the title away from Yang while he was sleeping. :D

(I could have sworn I read that Yang won the title from Orcullo.) :)

Thanks for the translation. Chao seems like he can communicate well with other players. He will be a good coach for China. I would like to hear how the other Taiwanese (not just the pool players)feel about his working for mainland China. Is it a big political thing? Or is this becoming common in other industries as well? (Taiwanese going back to work in mainland China)

Back to Topic...

China has a lot of potential. In terms of cuesport, they have great snooker players and one of them is Ding. Have you all seen him play? There should be lots of them on YouTube.

Give it 2yrs and China will have some pool champions.

Any idea what they are paying him? a sizable sum id imagine giving Taiwanese trade secrets away

Did Chao move there (citizenship) or is he just there for a training program?
If he competes in the WPC, what country will he represent?

Thanks everybody who posted info on this thread about Chao.

Chao is living in Shanghai. He has not changed citizenship and I would assume has no plans to do so. No reason to. There are MANY Taiwanese living and working in China and they don't get PRC passports.

He is teaching a handful of private students out of a nice pool room
in Shanghai where I play 2-3 nights a week.

Don't know the answer to your last question but I know someone who is associated with the Taiwan WPC team and will ask if I get a chance.
