I have never done this but a dear friend of mine, Greg Williams, lost his 20 year old daughter, Brooklyne Williams last August and it was devastating for him. It was terrible seeing him go through this as he was very close with his daughter. Greg is the type of guy that will literally take the shirt off his back for you, even if he is struggling to get by.

He is actually my neighbor and was driving by one day and saw my Gold Crown in the garage. He said, "Hey is that a gold crown?". I said, "Yes! Come over and play!". That was the beginning of our friendship and he has been whooping me ever since!

Greg has partnered with Boise State University in creating a $25,000 scholarship for disabled children and has raised $13,000 so far.

He is holding a Golf Tournament in Boise Idaho on September 14th 2014 to help the Williams family raise the funds for the Boise State University scholarship.

If you are in the Boise area and would like to register please follow this link - http://boiseelks.org/brooklyne-williams-golf-tournament/

I know most of you may not be able to attend the Golf Tournament but I will accept any charitable donations for the BrooklyneStrong scholarship. Everything helps and I would love to see Greg meet his goal of $25,000 before 2015. Please PM me for information on where to send donations.

Here is a little information about Brooklyne and about the scholarship:

It all comes down to legacy, the handing down and memory of the past. The legacy of Brooklyne Williams is The Brooklyne Williams Memorial Scholarship. Our scholarship’s goal is to send exceptional students with disabilities who have overcome their obstacles and graduated high school determined to continue their education, and to use their education to obtain a degree at Boise State University.

Behind the scholarship is one girl who changed everyone’s life she met. Brooklyne Kayla Williams was born on April 15, 1993 in Boise, ID to Gregory and Monica Williams. Brooklyne was born with most of her intestinal tract on the outside of her body, and due to her playing with the tract, most of it was unsalvageable. Following a fourteen hour surgery following her birth, Brooklyne, living with short gut syndrome, later lived on to grace the world with twenty years before her passing.

Brooklyne was an avid dancer, despite her condition, and continued to dance from her youth to her junior year in high school. Brooklyne’s condition never affected her grades, and very few teachers even knew of her condition. It was never used as an excuse or a reason to put something off. She graduated from high school in 2011. During her college years, she continued to excel in her classes, despite missing several weeks of classes due to increased health problems and hospital visits. At the end of the summer of 2013, Brooklyne’s health continued to decrease, and on August 16, 2013, she passed away at home of a heart arrhythmia.

Brooklyne dealt with a lot, with numerous surgeries throughout her life, yet it never got her spirits down. We learned from her that a syndrome doesn’t change the way a person tries, that no matter what, one can exceed. She was once in a lifetime, a dedicated student, active in her school spirits, and participated in sports. With this scholarship, we wish to find students just like Brooklyne, students with disabilities who have overcome their challenges and have exceeded beyond expectations.
