Hi Olgoat,

Thanks for asking. We accept no salary. We pay our annual membership fee like everyone else. Most of us average between 10 to 15 hrs a week on USBA affairs depending on the time of year. We are working on the Nationals scheduled for May in Vegas.

The BOD's are cool people with their hearts in the right place. But we are all very opinionated. I wouldn't have it any other way. Feel assured that whatever part of the U.S. you live, your director is hammering ideas from the perspective of your part of the country.

It's like making sausage. It's a ugly arduous process not for the faint of heart. But we all love 3C just like you do. But we all screw-up just like you may do.

OK, I'm glad that's over. For a moment there I thought that two guys who don't belong to the USBA and a self promoting, weaselly room owner were suggesting that Jim Shovak step down and be replaced by Jerry Karsh!.............the very nut bag from whom Shovak, Charlie Brown, Jewett et al rescued it.

I guess Jerry left that off his resume along with the fact that he effectively killed tournament 3-c in the US during his tenure to spite Sang Lee thereby pissing away the $1000 contributions that several of us each made to seed the tournaments.

This is why I've suggested before that room owners should not be officers of the USBA. It is a conflict of interest.

And as for Karsh, he's a chronic disease.........don't be a carrier.

Hey Barry,

I had to laugh about you calling Jim a liberal. Trust me on this. Jim is a conservative with a libertarian bent. I have had many discussions with Jim about politics. We don't agree on most things political. But both have fun debating each other. And we respect one another.

I on the other hand am a pinko socialist-leaning treehugging vegetarian-eating Obama-loving peace marching agnostic (and here is my saving grace) 3C player. I have anarchist, conservative, libertarian, and liberal friends. If they play 3C, they're good with me.

Life is too important to take seriously.

You are the man sir! I admire your skill, tact and diplomacy in dealing with many of the the issues at hand. I'm not suggesting that you will resolve "the issue" but I'm sure your input has been solicited. You are not recessarily the man next in line for the open presidency, though I'm sure you could handle it, but I truly admire your class and professionalism on AZB. I don't post a lot Steve, though I know both Jim Shovak and Paul Frankel many many years, both splendid gentlemen at that, but I sit, I read a bit from time to time and occasionally I'll post a reply or comment.

Judging by your screen name, I assume you embrace part or some of the Zen lifestyle which probably explains some of the qualities I admire in your AZB persona, I could be totally of base here, but I doubt it. Any how, I just wanted to thank you and acknowledge you for your professionalism in continuing to strive to make this game we love better and better everyday.

Politics and infighting will always be there. Opinions yea, we all got one... and an asshole...

The inmates are running the asylum. Not sure if there's anyone to take their place, but it can't be worse than this. Tear it down and start from scratch, get some new blood in there.

I even get along with Billiardshot, even though he is constantly saying a bunch of crap. He knows who I am and we have spoken together on the phone more than once.

I did not insult Mr. Karsh, I spoke the facts. He was involved in back and forth emailing and criticizing, etc. If I state a fact and that is taken as an insult, then I don't know what to say. If people are insulted when they hear the truth, then there's nothing that can be done for those people.

I'd be happy to. A couple of years ago I purchased a Schuler from him. A "Schuler" copy that is. I picked up my cue at his house, little did I know he made my cue in his garage. He completely mis-represented himself when selling me "HIS" product. I asked him for an original, paid $800 for his copy. He said he was refinishing my cue, BUT he was actually "finishing" it. A replica, signed by him. After a few emails, he would not refund my money. He did trade me for a SLC, which I immediately traded for an old Longoni. I was so sour over the deal that I didn't care about the monetary loss, I just didn't want anything to remind me of him any longer.

AFTER IVAN LEE [now President or something like that with THE BCA] quit RAY as RAY's production manager, to work for ATLAS BILLIARD SUPPLIES and who did RAY name to take his place: NOEL

After RAY died and THE TRIMS took control, Schuler Cues lasts about 8 years before folding. NOEL found out about it when he showed up one morning to go to work and the place was padlocked. NO RESPECT from the TRIMS to NOEL.......he just got trimmed.

NOEL continues to make a cue with a SCHULER joint in it but they are his cues now, being made with the blessings of KAREN, RAY's widow. I think so highly of Noel that when some one wants a butterfly with a Schuler Joint we collaborate on the cue.

SO YEAH HE WAS WORKING OUT OF HIS GARAGE but what the fooookk that means MR KING ????? Just cause you cud not build SO KING say anything you want anytime but make sure you get you facts right in the future......you have failed miserably in the past and this is not the first time !!!!!a cue in your garage does not mean some one else does not have the skills, does it ????
