Cheap rubber

A buddy of mine has a Peter Vitalie table and it played fine not all that long ago. We play a lot of Einstein nine and that means a lot of banking and I noticed that one of the rails started to bank bad. You could never predict how a ball came off of it. Now several other rails are doing it and my friend took the rails of and exposed the rubber. The rubber in between the pockets is disintegrating but looks new towards the pocket areas of the cushion. I noticed a sticker on the rail that said made in Taiwan:mad:. I thought it strange that they are doing this in spots and not the entire cushion. The rubber in the middle actually looked like it had been sun checked or something. Has anyone here ever seen this before?

Yep, rubber don't uniformly go bad, but it'll all turn hard as rocks and break apart over time if it's cheaply manufactured.

This is true. The guy (we will call him John) is pretty handy when working on tables so we won't need you to rush over here;). But I would like to buy you a awesome Mexican dinner next time you pass through:D.
