Cheapy cue, A nice surprise

A few months back I picked up one of those KC cues off Ebay. It's a Cocobolo 6 pointer with a kind of southwest knock off look. Originally I got it for my new pool room at home for my friends to play with, so they quit reaching for "the real cues" out of my case!:D

It had a dead clunky hit when I got it, so I put it up on the rack for another day. When I got home today, I went out to the shop, and ripped the tip off it and pulled the taper back about 1-1/2 inches. Then installed a Triangle with a tight dime shape to the tip. WOW....It was like a double cappuccino for this cue! I honestly really like the hit now. Maybe I was just lucky on the construction of the cue. A blind squirrel finds a nut now and then right?!

just a fun thing that happened today...

I have bought several cues from KC. the owner is named Jim Shao and he is as honest as they come. jmho. he backs everything with a full 30 day warranty and he does honor it. I just got 1 of his newest ones (been out for a few months) it is the 4 pointer with ivory diamonds in the points and in the butt sleeve. reminds me of the old style cues. I have given alot of his cues away for raffles and such.......................................mike

No. KC cues are not the same.Jim sells most of his cues thru ebay and has 100% feedback and thats after over 2500 sales..................mike

Are KC cues the same as Kaiser cues?

Maybe then the title of my post is too harsh saying "Cheapy".....I should have said inexpensive....

I've never tried a KC cue, but I did try a Kaiser that looked like a 6 point Southwest. I was really surprised at how good the hit felt and how well it played. I've seen the model I tried selling new for $150 w/ 2 shafts. Damn remarkable!

I agree the pointed KC cues play very well. The plain jain KC cues do not play well in my opinion.

yea Ted, The KC I got was $140 delivered with 2 shafts and joint protectors! Obviously all the points and veneers aren't perfect, but a damn good job for the price IMO. All they needed was a little tip work, and a little tapering...

Yeah the tips on the Kaiser mushroom and are soft layered tips, the shaft also needs to be taken down and polished up,the wrap will fray alittle but if starched and pressed it is ok,i think mine was alittle funny.
