For any of you guys going to the Super Billiards Expo this week, Yura (the local billiard mechanic setting up the three cushion tables) will be doing live demo of the OTL-VISE slate mover.

I love this thing! it really takes the work out of slate moving. Along with being small and light weight it's super versatile. I've moved 10 ft two inch thick billiard slates with this thing and it works fantastic. Check it out for your self at the show.

I will second that! I love my OTLvise. I moved a steel Gabrial frame upstairs with it. Not to mention the hundreds of pieces of slate.:thumbup:

Well.......how'd the expo go? Usually some of the guys n gals that fiddled with tables would have a get together for food and drink....
No more meetings of the minds????

Hey Rob,

I couldn't make the show, I'm out of work completely due to a herniated disk in my lower back. I was talking with John Palmer, OTLB who said they had a great turn out. I'm trying to make the next trade show if possible.

Hello jay,

Sorry to hear about your back, I know how stressful injuries can be. I'm 34 now and injures sure don't heal like they used to... Getting older is scary.. It's hard to stay active having a injury let alone exercise...I'm in a rut with a shoulder injury myself and it's no fun. Kinda hard to support a living with no work.
I hope you are back on your feet soon.

What's the next show.. The BCA trade show ?

Hey Rob,

I'm very lucky to have two great mechanics that work for me and along with helpers we'll continue to get the work out. I'm in my forty fifth year of pool table service, and it's time to put the tools down.

One of the things I'm very excited about is the Otl-vice that John Palmer invented and patented. The majority of my lower back issues can be traced back to the moving of slates, especially up and down stairs. With John's dolley it's almost effortless and much safer. I'm sure if this devise was around years ago I won't be suffering the back pain that now plagues me.

A word of advice, this job will really take a physical toll on your back, knees and hands over time. The use of proper material handling equipment, back support belts, gloves, eye protection etc... will pay big dividends in the long run.
