Check out my pool league video...

I shot this on my Sony-Ericsson k750i Mobile Phone and edited in Movie Maker.

It's my first shot at editing a video. It's action from the last 2 nights of pool league action in the league I run in Shanghai, China.

Hope you enjoy....

Watched the whole thing...pretty darn great for a cell phone and movie maker (and your first attempt) Well done!

Like the music too!

Cool...

I don't know much about technology...seems well done with what you're working with...but I get a good feel of the action...I tap my cue for good shots and hold my breath on the shots that just don't drop...looks like everyone is having a great time...

I love the music...is that a popular singer/group over there??...

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it.

The song is 'Superstar' a big hit in China for a 3 girl band called 'SHE'.

Quite apt for our league superstars...who come in all shapes, sizes, colors and degrees of ability :D

I was surprised to see so many western/caucasion folks in main land China.
About half of the league players are westerners.

I believe there are over 100,000 westerners living in Shanghai now. The nightlife is very cosmopolitan.

Great video, Colin. It really was well done! :)

I think the lady in black towards the end was the BEST shooter. She didn't seem to miss too many balls in the hole, making several lot-of-green shots. :p

Thanks for sharing.

Ah yes, that is Shirley, quite the shooter and cute to boot :D

Okay, I don't mean to be the bad guy here but ...

I hope that song NEVER becomes popular in this country. ;)

LOL! :D However, the song did complement the theme of Colin's Shanghai video shoot!

Did I hear the English words "Super Star" in the song performed by SHE?

I would think most pool players would welcome music when in the pit. I wish more tournaments would play "soft" music, as opposed to the church-like silence I witness so often in most venues.

I'm curious and don't know why this thought popped in my mind this morning. Has anybody ever witnessed a streaker at a pool tournament before? :D

The World Snooker Championships had a streaker a couple of years back. The same guy streaked at the Superbowl.

Hi-Colin, could you send me the music without the background noise's , thats a really nice song!

Thanks for video link. When I watch pool videos, no matter how bad (or good) the play is, it always gets my adrenaline pumping and I want to go out and hit some balls...Even with that video of the SML open from the other thread, from 100 yards away, where the players look like ants, I still get the urge to drop what I'm doing and go hit balls!

Not bad ...

Pretty good Colin, especially for working with what you were. Can we expect tournament videos in the future? .... lol

P.S. Tell the 2nd guy to shoot in the video, he stands too striaight on his
stick, and compensates for it by having his bridge arm straight instead of
slightly bent. Back him up a little, and have him turn towards his cue more, and his stance will be nore natural.

colin, nice work for that little cellphone.

but i got a question. What level are these players?

ill try to take some movies too and post them. Espescially over the little girl i talked to scott. Id love to have her break and run or 20+ breaks on camera.

Seems like alot of fun :)

I wish our league was played on nice tables instead of unleveled bar boxes with mudd cue balls :(

I like music when I'm playing. I don't like it so loud that I can't hear anything else, but I prefer it to silence. Well, unless it's country music. I prefer silence in that case. ;)

I've had some enquiries about the song, so here is a site you can download it from.

Hope that works with the chinese in your browsers. If not, go to www.Baidu.com and select MP3 then search with MP3 selected with search term Superstar. Click on the top result and on the page you'll get is the same as the one above. When there, right click on the link and select 'Save Target As'.

If you're looking for more songs from the same band, search for SHE or S.H.E. on the same site or search via google. They are a Taiwanese girl group. Very famous in Asia....sponsored by Coke.

Edit: btw: Here is a video clip of another of their songs, from the Album also titled 'Superstar'

I don't know the US ratings so much, but I guess our league players vary from SL3 to SL7. Most are playing their first league competition in pool and are just enthusiasts who've played a bit in bars. Some have played pretty seriously for years. One is ranked on the fringe on Chinese pro levels. One of the girls in the clip, the red head potting a long black once represented South Africa. She's the leading female.

It's a good mix of talent, mostly social. I don't see too many break and runs in the league. I don't play in it myself, just organize.
