I am a retailer for Meucci among other brands and recently had a customer come in that wanted a Meucci Cue, however, he didn't want the wrap sealed like all Meucci cues are. So, as part of the sale I decided to re-wrap the cue for him. When, I removed the warp and examined the under wrap I found something that was kinda interesting or at least different from the way I was taught to install an A-Joint / Handle. I thought I would get everyones opinions and thoughts on the way this was done.

Is that fiberglass cloth used to raise the wrap channel a couple inches from the handle to handle splice. HA HA what was retail on a new jump break jointed cleared over new Meucci---Leonard

Youve actually run across Bob Meuccis new cue.... The Smuggler. If you unscrew the A joint, you will find a hidden compartment that allows you to transport about 8 ounces of leafy materials across not only state lines.... but across all major borders.....

No that is actually Natural Linen Phenolic that encases the A-joint as a sleeve. I can kinda understand their thinking with the Phenolic Sleeve, but I have no idea whay the handle is separated behind the sleeve.

This one did not have any leafy material that I could see, however, there was some white powder that made me sneeze and light headed!!!!!:grin-square:

I had always heard that Meuccis A joint was a butt joint with a pin, but I figured it was right at the forearm/handle seam. I would imagine he does this for easier machining and quicker production time over the tenon that most makers use..... cause there is no way this type of joint is a stronger bond.

That is also my opinion

It is a very common connection. Tenon on the forearm and handle connected by a screw and phenolic sleeve.
