Checking Interest in modern design pool clothing?

There are other lines, such as Billiard Life and +Spot.

I like this one from +Spot.

Thanks for the plug!

Pool is a hard market to design. I set out on the same quest as the original poster, but it's not a great market. It's hard to please everyone and I would go broke if I tried. I really just make clothes that I like and get extra in my size so if they don't sell, a least I'll wear em!

We just came out with a new line, hope ya like em!

Since some events are no t-shirts allowed, I would like to see more shirt options with collars in non-cotton options. Light weight and breathes well.

That is what I like about RT 9 designs. They have some of the best materials that I now only buy that type of material in other shirts. They also have polo shirts, which I actually where to work a lot in addition to non-collared versions.

I am a big fan of their shirts.

@Cleary, I appreciate your designs, I just checked them out and forgive me but I had forgot I saw some of your posts here before and meant to check you out. I understand pool is niche but I feel strongly in my ideas and designs that I think I can do this, and do it quite well. Great idea about having extra in your size just in case.

I value your input as you are already out there living the dream!

@Perk, I got that covered brotha! I am looking at suppliers already for the shirts and factored the collar thing into the equation. Tournaments and team events often have that stipulation and I want to be represented there also, not just in the stands.

Keep 'em coming guys I really appreciate it.

I prefer simple so about the only pool related shirts I buy are from RT 9. They are simple in design, just a 9 on the front left hand side of the shirt.

I probably have about 30 - 40 of their shirts and will have about 5 more in a couple of weeks when I go to SBE.

I've never heard of RT 9... maybe I'm that far out of the loop :sorry:

Where can you order them? Do they have a website?

I apologize if this is somewhat of a "thread hijack"... It's not meant to be.

I think it would be cool to have pros pics on shirts, or some tourament standing shirts like they do for high school wrestling.. I would also love to have some company shirts with their cues on it, or some of their products.. (this may sound stupid) but like a pool table company .... with their pool table on the shirt.. like the top of the table on the front and the bottom of the table on the back... i know alot of ideas sound stupid at first but, if you just play with some ideas and what not you can come up with some pretty cool things...

Honestly I wouldn't be caught dead in any shirt with a tacky graphic and a cheesy saying. If buying a shirt I want to be able to wear it whenever, not just when I'm playing pool. Right now I think hustlin and spot are by far the best. And that's because they have good designs aimed at a younger demographic. My advice would be go to SBE or any large tournament and take notice to what people are wearing. That will help a lot. Good luck I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

They do have a website; however, last time I checked you could not order online although they told me they were working on it. The website is RT9NY.com.

They are generally at the major amateur events; I have seen them at SBE and APA Nationals in Vegas.

I like a silk camp shirt with a design on the back (tommy bahama did one a couple years ago) pocket on front, I leave my shirt tail out so my beer belly does'nt show so bad. On t-shirts go with the heaviest and best grade you can fine, front pocket and simple graphics (blue 2-ball on back neck with XXX Billiards) Also offer a pique t-shirt with pocket and side vents at bottom (tommy bahama used to have a shirt like that. I have an Ed Hardy design t-shirt with cue stick thru shull and several pool balls around it (but leave off the rhinestones) Just a couple ideas.

It certainly is a very tough market. The sales don't justify spending hundreds or thousands of dollars to visit an event with only a few hundred customers on-hand. So, you'd think that just being on-line would be sufficient, given the 30 million casual billiards players in the country. Well, that's not to easy too.

I've been working on my shirt catalog for a couple of years now. I have over 30 designs, incl AZB logo shirts. Tees, Hoodies, Polos, Camps, etc. I try to post on here often but the time investment it's just so difficult. I'd say it takes 10 hours of work to get one sale. Not a good ROI.

I've even sponsored three major regional pool tours. I've sold about 8 shirts from those efforts.

On the topic of design...I prefer shirts with some design that's not just a brand logo.

Another consideration on the business side- inventory. It's a huge challenge on a product line with a variety of sizes, styles and colors.

If you have the magic touch, jump right in. :)

Thanks League, You have it spot on I believe. It IS tough, but as the saying goes, when you love what do for work, you'll never work a day in your life.

It will be supplementary income and if I can do what I think my "magic" touch can do, I will tackle that mountain when I get there. Not saying that you've done anything wrong, I just would like a piece of the pie. =)

I would like to offer some cross genre sort of things also that venture into poker or gambling. Spot has some great sayings on his. Everyone like something different and I realize that. Inventory is a HUGE concern as well but I have experience in this already and I would be coming in well equipped.

Thanks for the input League, I appreciate it.

The camp shirts are a great idea as well Bob! A ton of distinguished people love those style of shirts. They work for casual and have a collar. Its a possibility. I have never seen a pool related Ed Hardy but that kind of stuff is in the works already sans the rhinestones of course.

THANKS AGAIN

You're welcome. I was trying to help educate the OP. I don't understand how anyone can jump into a market without identifying the major competitors. I think you had a booth at SBE last year to sell T-shirts and stuff, and not an excuse to get a coveted room at the Radisson.:D

I like your "reach in your wallet and find some heart", but it only comes in white.
When I play pool, I wear all black.

Great stuff so far! I have nothing against Hustlin USA or Deadstroke, I was just using them as a reference. I personally like the more graphically orientated stuff like Christian Audiger and Affiliction. I also like the witty stuff like "Pool players do it with stroke" and a classic design paired with it.

I am aiming for all pool games, and I have great ideas for a one hole shirt as well as straight pool. I am working on this brand as we speak, and as AZ might not be everyone, we tend to be passionate about pool and be quite opionated. Therefore I welcome the input. There will of course be a AZ memeber discount on this fine apparel!!!!

How about t-shirt colors? I know as pool players we tend to lean towards darker colors to not get the ole chalk streak.

I also would incorporate some gambling themes as well like "What do you wanna do for a dollar or two?" and "The nuts!" that would cross-over to poker players as well since pool and poker tend to go together like PB&J.

To answer your question about colors, I prefer to wear black.
I wear black jeans and a black t-shirt.
You mentioned you would like to offer some cross genre sort of things that venture into poker/gambling...
I wear a Texas Hold'em Poker World Series T-shirt that I bought in Las Vegas. It was a gift to my wife's brother. He died from cancer, and in his things designated for the trash/salvation army...I picked out that shirt. He played pool & darts, and I like to think that when I wear that shirt...he is there with me.

I have been looking at the sports shirts that athletes wear. The skin tight ones that are supposed to keep you dry. I'd like to use that as an undershirt, and maybe wear a Polo or T-shirt over that.
It would be nice to be able to go home and peel off the shirts, and not reak of cigarette/cigar smoke.
Sometimes, it smells so bad, I'll take a shower.
I do like the Affliction Signature Series prints, and I see some pro players wearing those style of shirts.

I also like the TAP OUT shirts.

Why not bowling style shirts with player signatures on the back you see this on TV every Sunday for bowling. I know some player would be buying the SVB or Efren shirts and the players would make something too.

I like the TAR shirts myself, have some of the others. Another shirt I liked was years back someone had a player line with polos with a player shooting logo, I never bought one but I liked that look.

Yea, I know... This is what I was saying about "pleasing everyone". See, I too like to wear black when I play, but people say we have too many black shirts. Ya can win 'em all.
