What are some good places to shoot in downtown Chicago? I'll be going there in early October for a training class and need some place to relax afterward.
First time visiting Chicago as well.

Thanks Guys!

Towards the O'Hare area, you've got Chris' Billiards on Milwaukee Ave. Definitely the city hot spot, as far as anyone's concerned. There's also the Chicago Billiard Cafe for a bit of a lounging atmosphere.

4637 N Milwaukee Ave for Chris'

5935 W Irving Park Rd is the Cafe

There are two poolrooms located 1 mile from the center of downtown Chicago. Both are modern 'yuppie' poolrooms in nice areas with nice tables and upscale atmosphere...........One is called G-Cue and is 1 mile west of downtown, the other is called City Pool Hall and is 1 mile northwest of downtown. There is no action or good players at these two pool halls, but you didn't say you were looking for that.....If you are, then you need to go to either Chris's billiards-10 miles NW of downtown, or Red Shoes Billiards-15 miles SW of downtown.

Let me recommend a great place to eat. It is called "Fogo De Chao". It is a Brazilian steak house. You get all you want of 15 different cuts of meat cooked to perfection, and one of the biggest salad bars you will encounter (although I try not to fill up on that). Definately one of my favorite restaurants. It is at 661 North La Salle. They have a website that you can chick out. Just google the name. Not a pool hall, but woth the mention.

G-Cue has good food, is nice looking and has Gabriel tables (the best commercial tables I've ever played on), but is expensive and pretty much deserted during the day. I've never been there at night but it must fill up or they'd have gone under by now. It used to be owned by Tom Karabatsos, a pro who owns a couple of other rooms around Chicago, but is now run by his sister.

City Pool Hall has Gold Crown 4s and OK food - a sports bar feel.

Both have full bars and no really good players that I've ever seen. Chris's or some of the suburban rooms are the places for that.

First time in Chicago? Great! What days of the week and what times? It makes a big difference.

Are you flying into Midway or O'Hare? If it's Midway, you can drive just 10 minutes south on Cicero and go to Pro-Tyme billiards in Alsip. It's on the East side of Cicero, and is a nice room.

It's not downtown, and it's not going to be your only spot to hit while in Chicago. But worth stopping in if you're coming or going from Midway.
