They are showing the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Masters Snooker tournament which starts tomorrow.

ALL of the top snooker players in the world are there and, as popular as pool is in China, as a spectator sport snooker is much more popular. Pool is relatively new in China and snooker has been played there for many years.

A snooker tournament that starts tomorrow?!?

I know snooker is big there in China for years, but this was a no-brainer. Cutting a finals match with 3 games to go max (10-8), just to show a welcoming ceremony?

I agree. I was just explaining what happened. If there had been a mainland China player in the final, might have been a different decision but who knows.
