So I went on a family Christmas vacation to Gatlinburg, TN for the past 4 days and just got back. On Monday night I had the pleasure of finally meeting Ktown. We've gone in together on several bets and talked on the phone but I'd never met him even though we are good friends with a lot of the same folks in the pool world.
We met at a little bar outside of Pigeon Forge called The Roaming Gnome, lol. This joint had a couple of bar tables but was basically a sports bar. We played a few games of bar box 8-ball with another random guy there. We were playing for drinks and had 3 or 4 crown and cokes each along with a basket of "pickle chips" which D had the waitress pick out from the appetizer choices. They were basically fried pickle pieces and were greasy as hell, but good nonetheless.
After we left the Roaming Gnome we went to a pool room that had 2 people playing and then to a real dive called the "Sundown Saloon" that featured about 40 grizzled sob's and 2 women. They were having their weekly 8 ball tourney on the 2 barboxes in the house and the winner-take-all purse was $35.
Needless to say we didn't stay there long. From there we hit Logan's Roadhouse where Ktown knew the bartender. I guess that was a good thing since he was cutting us a deal on double shot drinks, but it all started going hazy from there. We sat at the bar shooting the breeze and calling people we both knew. We talked to/bothered Shannon Daulton for a while since he's probably the person that both of us know in common the most. We also called Fatboy but he was busy on some multi-million dollar house deal or something.
Anyway, after a few more drinks we were trying to figure out where to go that a lot of people would be on a Monday night. D and the bartender both said that the only place that had a shot of having a lot of people was downtown Knoxville. Well, me being drunk and in bad decision mode, I said "sure" Knoxville it is. Keep in mind that my wife and her entire family are back in Gatlinburg.
So off to Knoxville we went which is about an hour from Gatlinburg. To make a long story short, we went to 4-5 different bars in downtown Knoxville even getting kicked out of one due to the fact that I brought a drink in from a previous bar we were at, lol. After being barflies downtown, we went to a pretty big pool room and sports bar called Bailey's where Ktown got us into a $2/$2 ring game. Needless to say I didn't make a ball and donated $20. I would have donated more but sat down with a table full of girls and just aborted the ring game without telling anyone, lol.
We left the pool room at around 2, I think. I got back to our condo in Gatlinburg at around 3:30 or so. Had a great time. Ktown is a great guy but I knew things would get crazy because he's too much like me in that going to 10-12 different places in 3 different cities on a random Monday night and having several drinks and shots at each of them is "nothing out of the ordinary", lol. Or at least that it's nothing that hasn't been done before. Good Times.
I'll let Ktown fill in any blanks or add anything if he wants to.
