While Mike Howerton has received a thread for his interest in joining the WPBA board, in the spirit of competition, I propose Cindy Lee be considered seriously for a spot on the board. While I know who Mike is and have communicated with hiim via emails, I have yet to meet him but all evidence suggests his love for the sport and the intelligence he would bring to the table. His election to the board might make sense as then I would not have met him or the WPBA President despite attending 90+% of the tournaments during the last 4 years.
I go to these tournaments as I like pool and almost all of the ladies who compete during the season for status, competition and a little $. I have recently met Cindy Lee and have received emails from Dragon Promotions for each event they promote something which I have suggested to the ladies tour for several years; it just takes pushing a button! Cindy is an incredible hard worker, intelligent, great personality and experienced in marketing internationally and domestically. I have seen Ms. Lee handle conflicts professionally, quickly and fairly. Having communicated with Cindy for 2 years via email, I finally met her at a Jacksonville tournament several months ago sponsored by Dragon Promotions and was totaly impressed by her intelligence, drive, abilty to communicate with people, and organizational skills. As we talked, she was open to listen to some thoughts I had for pool in general agreeing with some and disagreeing with some others but to her credit, she listened.
Having no idea if the 3 candidates are the total pool of people to be voted on and taking no shot at the other 2 nominess I am aware of, Cindy Lee could be on any board I was developing. I really care about the tour and wanted someone to open a discussion for Cindy who has expressed an interest in joining the board. Hopefully somone knows the other candidate or any future applicant(s) to open a thread for discussion. Leaving for Durham tomorrow am to watch the ladies knock them dead; can't wait!
As I have no experience with Mike or the other applicant, as someone who has a background in senior management for major financial organizations, Cindy would be a great addition to the WPBA which I really care about.
Bottom line, I want the best for the ladies of the WPBA.
