I was at the US Open when that match was played and I was really let down with the way it turned out. I looked forward to seeing Earl and CJ play all day and in Earl's defense he did get a couple of bad breaks, but it looked like he wasn't trying. He walked around looking at the floor and he just didn't seem like he was ever in the match.
 
I think earl would waste cj if earl was on his game or really tried. Hell when earl doesnt even try hes still dangerous. He got a lot of bad rolls in that set.
 
ugh, I gotta say I almost agree with coop. The 9 he missed could be lack of attention/whatever, but the 8 during the last game looked like he was trying to miss the ball. I dunno what to think. I don't wanna think it's business... I guess it's possible a player could get into a mood and just get up and whack 'em without caring where they go, even with money at stake and even when it's being watched by thousands.

Either way I couldn't help thinking "no wonder sponsors would dump this guy". I would be embarrassed to have a player on camera looking like he was up all night drinking, napping between innings, and dogging his brains out. This is by far much worse than seeing earl pissing and moaning and having a bad temper.
 
I didn't intend to mean there was business goings on.

I meant everything he did looked like dookie.
I've never seen earl look so ashamed before either so who knows.
I don't think he'd dump though.

I'd much rather see him snap a couple $2 cues
and yell at some ignorant cuss in the audience
for sharking him.
 
I was sitting right behind CJ during that match and it looked like Earl mailed it in from the start. It was very disappointing to me as I've been a big fan for years. I'm sorry, but if you're a pro, you don't play like that. The only one happy was CJ.

i was there for that match and it was brutal to watch. what was even worse was the next match earl played that day was against stevie moore and since earl looked so bad against cj, i bet on stevie getting 2 or 3 on the wire and the earl of old showed up and seemed upbeat and focused. result: earl11, stevie 3. you simply don't know which earl is gonna show up from match to match.
 
i just watched that match 2 times in a row and It reminded me of myself on some days, obviously I dont play any where close to Earls speed but how he played this match is how I play often I make/execute very difficult shots and then dog a ball, any ball at anytime. I dont dog the nine more often than the 4,5,6, etc. I think I just have lapses in concentration. I saw alot of myself on a bad day in Earl in that match. On a good day sadly I dont play like Earl, but the mistakes I make are exactly like Earl did in this match.
 
I couldn't even finish watching this match. Earl's attitude was like he didn't care. Don't know if there was a reason. But I do know when he won the million for stringing 11 racks in CJ's tournament, he played CJ in the finals and appeared the same way there. I think Earl got stiffed for some of the million. It seems as Earl doesn't care for CJ much.

How many times have they played Klopek? If they match up with big money on the line, I'd still bet on Earl. IMO he has more talent.
 
No doubt Earl is not the old Earl lately. Maybe he will never be. His attitude is bad and I'm sure it affects his play. But CJ also quit the game for a number of years. He probably isn't playing as well as he once did either. In the match shown here it was obvious Earl was not trying his best.
 
That was pretty painful to watch. I've seen players lose heart when the game goes against them but Earl looked beaten from the start.
 
Right now the only way CJ can beat Earl is if Earl wants him to. Earl wasn't trying to win this match. Him and CJ have a history, and Earl looks to be afraid of him on a personal level. There is no way in hell Earl even tried to win this match.
