Cleaning a JB Rugged Case Interior

I have a new cue on the way...

It has a Cortland wrap that is fairly light and I’d like to keep it as clean as I can for as long as I can.

I’ve used my jb case for long enough that I’m sure there is a fair amount of chalk imbedded in the padding.

Any suggestions on getting the chalk out of there?

How did you manage to get chalk where the butt goes in? If it's a newer case, the interior is removable. get a new inside!

I’ve used it for let’s say 3 or 4 years. In the beginning I wasn’t diligent about wiping my cues before putting them away,

My shafts are put in tip down so I think the shaft areas are far worse off.

I’m sure the cue butt slots are fairly clean though, I’d just like to start as fresh as I can.

This may sound kinda off-the-air but it works: find a hairbrush(or similar item) that will fit it the tube. Tie cord/fishing line to it and push it down the tube. Pull out and repeat a couple times. Get a crevice tool attach. for vacuum and vacuum out the loose chalk/dirt.

I would have to think this could be a good part of the solution.
You could snake that narrow part of the hose right down into the bowels of your case
and get rid of not only the chalk dust, but probably all sorts of stuff you don't want in there.

I like this and going to buy one to try it out.

That's what I was going to ask, you put the shafts with the chalk in the shaft areas, and the butt goes in the larger pockets. Maybe get two cases, one for shafts and one for the butts ;)

Nice, and my doctor wanted me to come into the office for a colonoscopy, you can do one at home now!

I'd also like the shaft compartments clean?

Just make sure he sends you the Rx script for the Xanax or Ativan before "trying this at home", LOL.

This gives a new, and even visual meaning to the term "wouldn't wanna be caught dead"...

How do you know know there is chalk in the butt portion of the padding? And how did it get there, since the butt does not come in contact with chalk?

All the best,
WW

As I said earlier in the thread, I haven’t always been good at wiping my cues after use, and I didn’t say I’d only like the butt portion clean, be nice to clean the shaft compartments too.

Playing pool in a hall means you’re going to get chalk on your hands no matter how careful you are (as I’m sure you are aware). Some of that chalk will inevitably get on the butt and in the case.

The new cue has a lighter Cortland wrap that I’d like to try to keep from being a light -blue- wrap before too long.
