Watching some Ladies Billiards on TV last Saturday, I noticed being shown some sort of cleaning or brushing item that looked like a "Sanding Block" with a grip on it. Does anyone know what these are? How do they work? Are they worth looking for? Where can one get one? Just curious. Always looking for something new to better the performance of my table.
Thanks for any available advice.

new thing put out by Simonis, I just got one

supposedly it picks up dust via static electricity

I'm still undecided

If this is what you're talking about, I believe Dartman sells them.

Other than this there are homemade (I believe) long rectangular blocks 12" x3" that has a piece of biliard cloth wrapped over it with a little padding underneath like maybe a couple of layers of Terri cloth. You kinda squeegee the table with it.

It's the Simonis X-1 cleaner. I bought one and it's absolutely great. It works on the electrostatic principle. It's a charged unit so chalk and dust is attracted to it. Does a terrific job of cleaning the cloth as well as the rail underhang. With a brush, you just brush the dirt into the pockets where it is eventually picked up by the balls and redeposited on the cloth. The Simonis eliminates this. You can clean the Simonis unit by vacuuming or just banging it with your hand. It's pricey but well worth it.

Not to dog the Simonis product or step on the toes of forum members here that sell it, but it is beyond ridiculously overpriced.

Do yourself a favor and save $85.00, buy a regular chalkboard erasure (not dry board) and you will get the same results for 5 bucks.

If your not happy with the chalkboard erasure results and feel compelled to try the Simonis product I would make sure to buy it with a moneyback guarantee.

A microfiber cleaning mitt works very well, can be machine washed, lasts a long time and at around $5 to $7 bucks you can't beat the price. BTW all microfibers work with static attraction.

Exactly, but don't put a dryer sheet in if you put it in the dryer after washing, it will kill the electrostatic charge. When they eventually quit working you can pony up another $5.

So the secret to Quick Clean is not the spray but the micro fiber cloth that you use with it?

Have to try the micro fiber cloth trick.

If it is the static then a balloon wrapped with the cloth would be the nuts.

Another would be wrapping your hand with the cloth, wearing nylon socks and sliding your feet over a wool carpet.

That only works if you are wearing nothing but the socks!
