Cleaning elephant wrap

Hi all

I got some wax on the elephant wrap and whatever I try makes it worse

The wrap is very textured and the wax dried in several spots and is in the grooves

It's a black wrap and I tried a coach cleaner and auto leather cleaner. Both are clear liquids and now I have a white haze which I have tried to remove by wiping with a clean t shirt
Still have some wax residue also

Thanks for any input or suggestions

I can't comment on the cleaner residue but a good way to remove the wax is to wrap a paper towel around the waxy area and gently heat it with an iron set on low. as the wax softens and melts it will soak into the paper towel.

The wax will be water resistant and attacking it with cleaning agents might ruin the leather......I also think I would attempt a hair dryer........industrial strength like HVAC technicians use.........do no let the nozzle get so close or linger in one position as it could overheat and burn the wrap......I 'd try a getle moving motion of the hot air on the wax and use absorbent cloth to remove it........ultimately hot soapy water might be needed but only after the majority of the wax has been removed........you do not want to spread it as you unfortunately discovered.

Cleaned!

Hello Matt

Thanks everyone

I tried your suggestion and finished with a soft sponge with hot water with just a tiny amount of soap, barely damp. A little bit of presssure and it cleaned very well.

Thanks again.
