Clear coat shafts?

I just got couple extra shafts for McD D-series. Shafts are just a hair SMALLER than butt joint. Hair meaning I can just catch fingernail when scratching from joint down.
I know, I know, it won't affect play but I'm damn picky.

Question is, can I get spray can of something like Krylon Clear Coat & securely spin shaft in a crackerized lathe & spray a couple quick blasts on 1st few inches of shafts until they're same diameter?

Thanks ahead of time guys! ~ Johnny Rosato, B'ham, Al

Being a picky guy you won't like those results at all. The finish needs to be built up and sanded to the correct diameter then polished out.

That was my first thought! LOL!

I see so many conversations in this forum about finishing, I can't imagine a quickie Krylon job would work out well especially for a picky person.

I would put a few coats of clear epoxy on and sand down proper size....

I agree with the above - Krylon is not your friend here.
But I'm more interested in seeing a picture of your "crackerized" lathe!
My 2 cents,
Gary

I was wondering who would comment 1st on the 'crackerized' lathe. Black friend taught me that fixing cars !

McD cues have a very thick finish that could be sanded down a few thousands and polished out to match a small mis-matched shaft.
However, that would make your original McD shaft to big.

Best way is to send the smaller shaft and the butt to a cue maker that can build up the finish on the shaft to match the joint dia.
