Clicking sound.

I know of a cue maker years ago that produced lots of cues and they were well known for making a clicking sound on hard contact with the cue ball.
I heard more than one person ask if it was a miscue even on a good shot.
Was it the type of ferrule, or what would cause the clicking sound?
None of the ferrules were ever noticed to be loose.
I still have one of those cues and it has been making the same clicking sound since I first bought it.
Several people owned those cues in this area back in the 70's and 80's since it was a local cue maker, and they all made the same sound.

A LOOOOOOOOONG time ago there was a cue being made that was being called a power cue. It was supposedly loaded and it made a definite sound when used. I have no more information about it other than that memory. It was either in the early mid 80's or in the mid/late 70's.

Who the hell made it? sounds like a cue with a ivory ferrule, hard tip and a miscue to me. If i had a cue that clicked i'd sell it but quick.

Richard Black cues were known to make a clicking sound on impact. The response from opponents (sight unseen) was “oh, I hear you’re playing with a Richard Black”.

I had a click a long time ago. It felt like breaking glass. It turned out that the screw that held the rubber bumper on was loose and its washer was slapping against it. That clearly had no significant effect but it made me afraid of every shot.

Yep, i've had loose bumper screws, loose ferrules, and un-secure tips cause various noises but nothing that was inherit to the cue itself.
