this is just a report on the new straight pool league at MBC in marietta, ga.....we started our 1st matches a week ago this past sunday, my opponent and i had to play to 120....it took 3 1/2 hours and the score 120 to 118!
yesterday the league decided that 120 balls took too long so we changed to a total of 100......with a different opponent the score after 2 1/2 hours was 100 to 96! just too close! hey, but we are having fun at it!

Interesting topic that we have been discussing in our league for some time. Some players can finish a 150 point game in less than 2 hours with regularity, while others seem to take considerably longer even with 100 point games.

Don't know the answer (yet).

I think we at MBC will see the match times speed up over time. The goal is to have a 2 hour match - obviously some will go quicker; some longer. This is a new league with some players new to 14.1; others including me played 14.1 leagues twenty years ago and just now getting back into the game.

So far we are all struggling to get out of a rack! This will change; more confidence to play the game and trust your stroke to hit the shots that need to be played as opposed to taking the score and playing safety. Hopefully, we all will start putting some modest runs together soon!

I for one am throughly enjoying playing with a good group of folks. I mean Rufus and I were so nice we tried to give the game to each other multiple times yesterday! :)

sorry i was not able to stay and watch....looked like it was going to be a good "battle"....what was the score?

I edged Rufus 100-98. He mounted a strong comeback at end game. I was lucky to win; I missed game ball by 1/2 diamond! NO pressure! haha!
