Closed Loop Bridge

How do you form your closed loop bridge? I form mine by placing the index finger on top of my thumbnail. I believe most place their index finger on the end of their thumb. Placing it on top of the nail is most comfortable for me and seems to grip the shaft best, but that does not seem like it makes as solid of a foundation for the reminader of the hand. It can rock ever so slightly. The index finger on the end of the thumb seems to make for a more stable foundation but less stable grip on the shaft.

Opinions?
 
no thumb

try using the thumb, middle and pinky fingers for your base, nothing is
more stable than a tripod, nothing.
your loop will have to be using only your index and middle finger with
the index finger planted firmly on the middle finger.
the ring finger does nothing.
 
Are you saying not to place the palm of your hand on the surface of the table? I find that is where much of my stability comes from.

Sure. As mentioned in the other thread about bridges that is going on right now, if you want a closed bridge like Mosconi's, your thumb will hold the end of your index finger against the middle finger. It won't be comfortable at first to make such a firm bridge, but you may get used to it in a couple of weeks. Whether it's the most stable and secure way to form a closed bridge is a matter of opinion, but I think it is.
 
index finger on top of middle finger's knuckle, thumb touching both the index finger tip and the middle finger knuckle. That's ideal but if the height needs to be changed and I still used the closed bridge, obviously it will differ.
