Hey just wondering what frequency others on here do a cloth replacement on their home tables that get use. I know you can go for years but ball marks are pretty fugly.

Yeah i would say personal decision too, if its used over many hours a day, will be fine if, its cleaned properly.with a decent clean regularly. The main difference over time. Is it plays a lot faster.mine has those black marks on the shelve of the pockets. I think its been, about two years now. It just depends what kind of marks in the cloth, you can live with.

I recovered my table after three years. It didn't need it yet but I was changing the tops out. I'd say every 5 years will be more realistic from here on out.

I replaced my Simones cloth on January 16, 2023, after having predator cloth for 6 months. The predator cloth was terrible, even got holes in it. I put Simones 860hr on, and my guys charges, 200 and 40 dollar tip for him and his son. The cloth still looks good, and i play two to three hours every day. It’s coming up to the month of january, and i will probaly wait till July to reflect. Which would be` 18 months on the cloth.

Cloth is 270 for 860hr, install is 240, which is 510 for 18 months of Total enjoyment for me. Worth every penny.

It depends a lot what you will do to keep it good. If you have a good quality balls and keep them polished and maybe use Taom chalk on your table you will have burn marks a lot less also. Probably can double the life of cloth then.

I purchased my Diamond and the Derby in 2020. I shimmed the pockets to a nice probably 3 15/16 and have only used TAOM Chalk. Switched out the cloth to Simonis 860 HR Grey. At first my Masters buddies did not like the idea but since I had bought 9 cubes and they had no out of pocket expense and provided they were cool. I have multiple sets of balls, diamond ball polisher, have a dehumidifier and take time to maintain playing surface. The cloth has slowed maybe a touch. Been doing this for several years and ran a pool hall in my youth. I feel 3-5 years in easily achievable depending upon personal choice

Yeah, I'm looking at a re-felt with just 14 months on the cloth...

Bought Simonis 860 but sadly used cheap balls for a couple of months that left a ton of burn spots and even two small wear spots that are about to turn into holes.

The lesson of the story is, if you plan on playing three racks a day or more get 860 HR, Aramith Tournament balls, and use a breaking cloth.

yes, always a break cloth and good balls and a ball cleaner. Practicing draw shots needs a break cloth also.

I got 8 years out of my Simonis 760,
Lots of pock marks, but no cuts or tears or wear through.
{{I should mention that I rarely break, just rolls the balls onto the table and start shooting.}}

After they installed, no one ever called for service.

The plumbers, electricians, HVAC and telecoms all provide better service than a pool mechanic.

I can afford to upgrade but I didn't think it was thing.

I would've updated pocket drops, rails and asked for different color cloth or special rails. And then bought the new lighting and pay for the install.

This is why Heyball should be the new game. Everyone needs a fresh start too much old baggage.

I got almost 15 years out of my original cloth. It (at the time) was Brunswick's upgraded version. Probably should have replaced it a couple years earlier, but after it started getting worn I began honing my jumping abilities and didn't want to re-cloth until I was satisfied with my progress.

I went 5 years on the original 860 that came on my Diamond. I shoot about 10 racks of 9 ball per day about 5 times a week. I also play 8 ball races to 13 once a month. Not excessive play, but used

The cloth still played fine at 5 years, but the burn marks were excessive. I just had the table recovered about a month ago with shark gray 860.

I've gotten aboout 1-1/2 years on mine and i'm looking to get it replaced. I play about 2 hours daily everyday.

Pushing three years with my Simonis 860. Some marks, but nothing even approaching a hole or tear. I play 3-4 days a week for 2-4 hrs at a time. Cloth still looks nicer than the brand new cloth on any tables at a recent tournament looked after a week of use.

At current rate I would not be surprised to get 10yrs out of it.

. 8 years you have done very well, yeah breaking and jumping really cuts the life span.

My Simonis 860 just turned 10 years old on my GC4. It looks and plays awesome IMO. Sometimes I play 5 hrs in a day. Sometimes I don't play for 2 weeks. I play mostly 9 ball, repetitive drills, and occasionally 14-1. I use masters blue chalk, and well polished balls. I even have a cut in the cloth about 1.5" long from a picture framing knife accident, and it hasn't grown any longer in 5 years. It's kind of out of the way so I just live with it.

I mostly just throw the balls on the table and run them. 9 ball breaks I only do when I'm playing sets with the ghost.

I am also a very recent convert to Taom. Really loving how clean it is. Playing at the pool hall, I'll use masters all day. But at home, only Taom for anyone playing on my home table, period. Curious...how are you liking the Simonis Grey? I've used 860 HR in the usual tourney blue, but the grey has captured my interest.

Cheers,

Neil
