MADISON BOB!

HEY you guy,s that have model B porper lathes here,s one for you i have one that i made cnc . i got the bed in perfect alignment from end to end added ball screw,s and cnc stepper motor.s a porter gable router set on it,s side at a slight angle and use a 3/4 striaght router bit set about .020 thousand,s above the center of the center of the chuck. my controller is a alignrite running off a flashcut box i,am useing bobcad17 to hold my program,s. i also made the tail stock fully ajustable i cut it in half welded 2 plates on it one on the top and one on the bottom put 2 keyway,s in it and a dail indaciator so i can offset it and set it up dead center of the chuck i run shaft,s and butt,s on it. it cut,s so perfect it,s unreal how perfect it cut,s!! being setup like this you can make your shaft,s are butt,s any size in any area,s without a problem and cut wrap groove,s to perfection. i also use it to make half splice forearms with are without veneer,s. i have 2 other porper model A lathes that are not cnc i made jig,s for that now instead of having 1 taper for the shaft,s they have 7 different taper,s useing the same bar. if anyone want,s to see the setup,s i would be glad to send them some pic,s of them so they can convert there,s these 2 other none cnc unit,s also have ajustable tailstock,s with indaciator,s so you can just offset the tailstock to cut your butt,s so you don,t have to cut them off your taper bar because you know how much trouble it is moving from cutting shaft,s on the taper bar and then go to cutting butt,s and then going back and getting it lined back out it take,s forever. just send me your email address are tell me how to post them on here and i will i,am new to the forum and don,t know how to post pic,s on here so any help in doing so would be great. hey if you guy,s have made any change,s to yours please share them with us. there good lathe,s when modifyed and setup right and it take,s about half the time to do thing,s on them that it doe,s on my bigger lathes the tool change,s are real fast MADISON BOB!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! i would like to say no body know,s it all but i bet if we search all the knowledge on this forum we could get alot closer i love this new aproach to openiness with the cue builder,s this will bring us all to new level,s and push us to build more awesome piece,s of art. can you tell me how to post the pic,s??? i want to show people these setup,s. THANK,S AGAIN MADISON BOB

To post pics just click on the Manage Attachments. The only problem is you usualy have to edit your pics so as the file is small enough to be able to post. If my explanation isn't complete enough mabe one of the guys who is better on the computer can chime in.

To post pictures without having a site to host them for you...

First, you have to change the pictures so that they are small in data size or AZ won't accept them. They have to be less than 100KB. I don't know what program you use, but open the pictures, then go to save as. But while in there, look through the options and see if you find something about quality. Mess around with that until the picture is less than 100k.

Then save it. Then on the forums, click on "manage attachments". Select your picture, then click upload.

Important: Only put one picture per post. If you put more, they will show up as links that we have to click, instead of automatically loading. Make a new post in the thread for more pics.

hey when sheldon post these pic,s of the taber bar jig on the none cnc porper the bar as been modifyed on the chuck end with a 4 inch slot and the shaft slot underneath the bar were your bearing ride,s in has also been lenghthened 4 inch,s so as you move the bar down for longer taper,s you don,t run out of shaft groove i will not be able to shoot a shot of this at this time if people need me to i can uninstall the bar at a later date to show them this feature if they decide to do there,s in this fashion. and guy,s feel free to email are call me if you need anything on this after you see the pic,s again thank,s sheldon. you all can get my number from my sight it,s www.madisonbobs.com SHELDON YOU ARE THE MAN!!! If there,s anything you would like to know just ask i,ll be glad to answer anything about the setup,s. And remember it,s a porper lathe but it has been made into a cnc by me. I did send joe porper some pic,s a while back and he freaked out on it and the taper bar jig,s and tail stock,s on the reg. porper lathe,s. But he never modifyed his lathes to be sold are at least offer the ideal,s as upgrade,s. I think he would be surprized who would be interested . But the cue builder,s can do them there self,s. The taper,s can be put in half step,s giving you 14 taper,s instead of 7 that,s alot better than the one the machine come,s with. Really all these porper,s need when they come from him is the spindle,s nurled to keep from spinning inside of the bearing,s and that,s not even needed if you don,t work them the way i do. But these upgrade,s are needed if your a advanced cue builder and build 100 cue,s are more a year. We also added some dove tail out back of the lathe,s with a tail stock and a bearing rest to hold thing,s better it,s in line with the center of the spindle,s and really help,s out alot it,s alot better than trying to run collet,s in the spindle to hold stuff. But i did,nt send any pic,s of how it,s setup maybe next time are at someone,s request. MADISON BOB
