CNC Shaft Machines - Taper Machines?

With the recent interest in CNC Shaft Machines, I am wondering how many different CNC shaft machines are in use by Cuemakers in this forum.

Please post pictues and a review of the machine you are using along with cost and software. Also I would be interested in the problems you encountered and how you solved them.

I recently saw one of Bludworth's CNC Shaft Machines and it looked fine but it is not set up and running yet. When my friend Tony gets it up and running I will take some pictures and post his evaluation of the machine.

Good Cuemaking,

I have one of Blud's 4 head saw tapering machines. I am happy with it. It works great. Only thing I don't like is the noise that the Servo motors and controller makes. It is a real high pitch sound. Older folks can't hear it and it bothers me some, but bothers my kids even more. I built a box around it to cut down on the sound and it has helped a lot. If the controller and motors ever go bad I would probably replace them with stepper motors to eliminate the noise.

Good Cuemaking,
Here is a picture of Unique Products Twin CNC Taper Machine with Quiet NSK spindle system. This machine, with both spindles running, is very quiet. You actually can carry on a conversation around the machine. If you have seen the Cuemonster CNC machine in action, it is the same spindle system used on that machine, which we run at shows. Bobcad for software, and DeskNC for converting Code, which works wonderfully. Cost of this machine with computer and software is $7800.

I use Cuemonster CNC machine , and work great~~~

quiet and fast

and you can also inlay

:D

I'm using an align rite. Biggest problem is how noisy the laminate trimmer motor is, I have a precise spindle on the way so we'll see how that goes. Other problem was cleanup after turning shafts, rigged a dust collector up to it, gets about 99% of the chips. Overall I'm very happy with it.

I have one of bluds single machines and a 2 headed machine that I built. The 2 head is not finished yet. I will post pics of it when it is done. As for bluds it cuts great. I have a bow somewhere I couldent get rid of. When I cut a 30 in piece the center is .011 smaller than the ends. I tried for days to shim the machine in various places to get rid of it but couldent. I gave up and just wrote cnc programs to compensate for it. Now it cuts straight and true everytime.
My machine, unfinished and dirty.
