All these rules ring true to me.
My wife doesn't take much of an interest in pool and has only come to watch me play a couple of times. I never complain when she tries to encourage or console me after a bad night but it does annoy me for some reason. After reading "The Pleasures of Small Motions" and "The Inner Game of Tennis" I got much better about putting things in perspective and it doesn't bother me anymore. Interestingly, I've been winning more often since I've taken the pressure off of myself and take the losses in stride.
I don't push her to come because I know she wouild be bored.
I used to get annoyed when my (female) team captain would try to say something encouraging after I lost a game or match or missed an easy shot. The guys seem to know better already. Just keep your mouth shut is the best bet.
