Cognoscenti For Sale

Hi all, I'm new to the forums, obviously. My fiance and I have been searchng the internet for a site such as this for a specific reason.

We currently live in Florida and the house we've been renting has been put on the market. Just found out we have thirty days... So, we are going to relocate to North Carolina.

Due to such a short notice, I don't have the funds on hand. Because life's interests change, my love for pool has become secondary to my peace of mind. Therefore after carefully weighing my options I've decided to part with one of my most prized possessions.

For all you Cognoscenti enthusiasts.. here is something you may be intersted in.

The Picture Says It All...

BLUE BOOK LISTS THIS LEVEL 7+ AT $5,000 OR MORE... MAKE ME AN OFFER

How bout a price? What do you want for it?

Being new to forums, please be patient with me. Reading and responding to many PM's would take some time. I am simply planning to see what my best offer on this cue is and go from there but I'll be happy to answer any questions people might have here in the thread. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it. One reason I was comfortable with choosing this forum is the obvious respect the users show for one another.

I've owned this cue for 8 1/2 years. Was gifted to me by a fantastic friend, it's original owner.

It's 19.5 oz. as far as I can remember

12mm tip

Rolls straight with and without.

Grade 5 Titanium screw ( a common Joe Gold option)

Balance point is 19.2 in.

Sorry, I'm not sure on the balance.

Nice comments...but it doesn't hurt that you are selling a Cognoscenti.
Good luck with the sale.

if i may ask, who did you buy this from and when?? i was in Joe's shop allot during the time this cue was being built and if memory serves me well i thought it was being built for a Japanese collector  ........it's rare for a cue like to come back to the States after it leaves........very nice cue.....good luck

Must have been great to watch Joe in action. Perhaps it is similar to the one you're speaking of but this particular cue was custom ordered by my buddy in California.

idunno...

It is not everyday that we have such a high end cue show up in the forums.

This must be killing your great friend that you have to sell such an awesome gift! I would be devistated if I had to and my peace of mind would not be in question... Maybe my sanity???

Good luck.

Thanks for the good luck, to you and the others. Was told last time he and I spoke that it's "my cue now" and I can do with it what I need to. If this move my fiance and I make betters our life, then there's nothing to compare. And we all know a man's sanity is based on his woman's happiness ;)

The cue is sick!!!! Likely not a one of a kind, or if it is, there would still be many cues with extremely close kinship. Not knocking it, just agreeing with your point about it not being the Japan cue (although you should also note, 'skins' worked hand in hand with Joey for a while).

Anyway, as a heads up, you should also know that times are tough all over and as a result, the cue market is feeling it too right now.

Additionaly, the 12mm tip will shrink your market just a bit.

Either way, I'd like a price on it (by PM if you prefer). And otherwise, good luck with your sale! Again, that cue is sick!

Hey Half,
I do understand the market and appreciate the info. This cue does have some similarities but is still a level 7+ because of having the extra added 18k gold in ivory points and has a total of 96 inlays. Just like a car the market is an open choice for those who collect. The fact he only made 50 per year, all individually different makes it in my opinion unique. So what I am saying is...I feel the person that sees it like I did will appreciate what it is. The market according to some posts I have read is an individual choice. Looking at it that way I feel it is worth more than 5 thousand. Now, what someone is willing to offer is up to them...

By the way, thanks for the double sick comments, I agree

You might want to offer the Cog to Bill Grassley of cornerstonecusomcues.com and see what he says. Bill deals in a lot of very high end cues and is on AZ from time to time. His AZ user name is cornerstone if you want to PM him or see his web site for contact info.
