Coker

Love them

I really liked my Coker Cue, I had to sell one of them once I recieved my Dishaw but the Coker was my first custom and it shot great.

My wife shoots with a Coker (she is a APA 5/6), I bought her a 314-2 but she loves the hit of the Coker shafts more them the predator

Cokers are a very nice cues you can not go wrong for the price

i hear their earlier cues were better. i also hear that the customer service was better back in the day as well. there was a thread about that on here somewhere

as a coker dealer and someone who has had a few cokers i believe they are a great entry level custom playing cue. i don't see any difference between the old and the current production now that tom has gone back to doing the work himself. they are not ever going to be collectible but for the money they play very well.

To this day the best hitting/playing cue I have owned was an Ebony Coker with the original shaft.

I keep watching ebay hoping someday it will be back up.

Kick myself every time I think about selling it.

Cokers make a fine playing cue. All of the Coker cues I have hit with played good. I also dont think they will ever be collectible.

I think they play decent, the plain cues (no points) look good, but I've seen alot of Coker's with God awful points come out of the shop that should have never been let out the door. I also saw a guy with 2 Coker's one with points and one without, that he had custom ordered. These 2 cues looked like they were made from a bunch of test pieces, it was the ugliest thing I ever saw, both these cues were ordered with identical specs. Here's a few things I noticed when I looked over them, right off the bat they were different lengths, the forearm was longer on one, the buttsleeve was longer on the other one. The handles weren't the same length. The shafts on the one cue were not the same length, the shafts on the other cue had different length ferrules from each other and neither of them were the same length as the other 2 ferrules. The shafts had different tapers. It was an absolute complete joke. Now I've heard some stories about how the son was doing the points for a while and that's why they weren't as good, to me that's just a cop out. The dad still signed his name to these ugly cues so he is rsponsible. I have also seen examples of his points that were flawless as well but to me he should have never let some of that crap out of the shop. I would also speculate that's a major part of the low secondary market of Cokers. But that is purely speculation. This is all IMHO of course.

I've owned 4 of 'em...and they all played nice. I had a plain jane bacote cue that was awesome...and played REALLY sporty. Guycrunch actually turned me on to them as a player's cue...and he was dead-on accurate about the value for the money.

Will they ever be a future nest-egg cue? No

Will they be a solid performing cue that'll last for years after you buy it? Yes

Thanks again for the comments, mostly good but some from the dark side. Does anyone know what period of time the son was involved? Is 2007 a good year for Coker quality? Thinking of getting one.

I think you really have to look at the individual cue, I've seen batches of 6 cues (this was last year) where 4 of them looked good and 2 of them had terrible point/veneer work. If you buy off the internet just make sure you can return the cue if you're not happy. Now if you're looking at a plain cue with no points I don't think you have much to worry about.

Ditto......

Hi all, thanks for the advice, I did get a Coker and am very satisfied with it, nice feel, hit, balance, etc. Finish is really nice. Points do not line up exactly but, are well done otherwise. Hits a lot like my Diveney SP.
