In your opinion, just how good was Cole Dixon in his prime?

I saw him play at Weenie Beenies when he was a teenager and I thought that he was one of the best players (at 9 ball) that I had ever seen. What happened to him?

Thanks, ww

the last time i talked with Cole ( about 4 years ago) he was living in billings montana and traveling to mike johnson's shop (jensen custom cues) to help build cues. i talked with mike a year ago in vegas and said that cole was still living in MT and helping him build cues.

As of a couple of months ago Cole was still in Montana. A friend of mine living in Spokane, Washington said that Cole was at a pool hall there taking on all comers and doing well. My friend said Cole can still play.

Cole Dixon is one of my dearest friends in life. I grew up watching him play, and make no mistake about it, he was one of the best California had to offer. :)

I heard he was playing out there in Vegas with Freddie Boggs during the BCA Open. Never did find out how it ended up, though.

Wow! Go, Freddie!!.

I sure would like to hear more re: their match-up. Any idea what game they were playing? Was a spot involved??

Thanks lots,
Pigi

He stopped in Anchorage in February during the Fur Rondy tournaments. His daughter is stationed in the military here. I don’t think he matched up with anyone here… his reputation preceded him.
