Looking for a friend spare set of collets for sale cheap......... mostly handle & shaft joint sizes and some ferrule sizes ....I said I would post a request if nothing comes in I will order more derlin and make some for him
thanks

They are REALLY cheap if HE just MAKES them. I don't know why you would want to spend 5 times the cost for premade collets when making them is pretty easy.

they have other sizes as well. bore to size, cut a slit and enjoy

Those are pretty expensive.

Go to Ebay and buy a 1 foot length of delrin 1 3/8 in diameter. Total cost is about $14 with shipping. Cut into 2 in peices and turn the OD so they have a flange. Drill them and then bore them using your butt taper bar. Slit them on the band saw. Make several sizes to fit on different areas of the butt.........

easy and cheap...........

When you make your own collets, make sure you cut the bore and the outside diameter in one fitting on the lathe. Don't cut the outside, then take them out of the chuck and re-fitting them to cut the inside.
Doing so will compound any run-out you have in your chuck, and make your collets not concentric.
