collision induced throw

Which shot caries a higher margin of error?

1. 30 degree shot at 2' away ,dead center hit on cb ,firm speed.
2. 45 degree shot at 2' away ,dead center hit on cb,firm speed.
3. 60 degree shot at 2'away,dead center hit on cb,firm speed.

Also what gets the object rolling more natural high english or low?

Studies have shown that the 30 deg angle allows for a rather large margin of error - maybe Dr Dave will chime in. Your greatest effects from collision induced throw will usually be at slower speeds that let the "frictional gears" engage for longer periods during contact. Lots of interesting bank shots come up from employing this effect - see Freddie The Beard's instruction for some real pearls - but firmer speeds diminish the effect.
As for the 2nd question... Low on the CB will get the OB rolling sooner, but once the OB has achieved natural forward roll, I believe that's the max rolling spin velocity regardless of initial impetus from the CB.

FYI, I have links to resources on this topic here:

The answer might depend on how well you adjust to changes in cut-induced throw (CIT). For more info, see:
