Color of Money book

I was refering to the line to get the copy of the book sent to me....
but hey...thanks for the info.... that really sounds like a completey diffrerent story than the movie...
think it might have had something to do with the real willie vs fatts matches on TV? ...

book

Sorry poolcuemaster, whitey 2 beat you to the pm. If he will he can send it to you when he is done. There were two books, after the movie the a book came out just like the movie, the cover has the movie actors on the cover, the real story does not.

page 65 is confusing me

On page 65 it mentions a (not difficult) bank shot where inside english
is needed to keep the two ball from kissing the cue ball. Huh? Inside
english will stiffen the angle of an object ball, and put it
on an angle towards the cue ball. Am I missing something
here? I can't envision a shot where inside would be required
to avoid a kiss.

By the way, great book, I'm about halfway through it now.

Roughly, putting a lot of inside on this sort of shot:

will allow you to hit the 2 ball further to the right, and avoid a double kiss, while still pocketing the ball. Without the inside english, aiming to miss the kiss will cause the 2 ball to hit the bottom rail somewhere around the piece of chalk on the rail.

Walter Tevis was a world class writer, writing five best selling novels. He wrote the orignal screenplay for COM based on his book and Paul Newman didn't like it.

He opted instead to have Richard Price write an entirely new screenplay that was more like an updated remake of The Hustler. I believe Paul wanted to play the George C. Scott character in the new movie, which he did.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tevis's version of COM. Completely different than Price's screenplay, but equally compelling. It is more of a sequel to The Hustler with a continuation of the old story line.

How many of you know that Tevis also wrote The Man Who Fell To Earth, another great novel.
