Color of Money Fans?

he had over 20 cameo's in his movies, and yes, that is him in the opening speech.

When it first came out in the 80's, I didn't pay attention to the opening monologue. As I re-watched it, I started to appreciate it. It sets the tone for the film. This movie isn't the Hustler, it stands on its own.

The sound editing on that movie sucks. If you turn up the sound loud enough to hear the opening dialogue, you'll shit your pants when the loud music starts.

The sound is the worse part of that movie, for sure.

That movie was singel handedly responsible for recruting thousands of new pool players!
It would be great with a new pool film, so we could show the world that pool is cool

I watched it for the first time yesterday, on youtube. I thought it sucked.

I'd have called a foul on Vincent when he combo'ed the one into the nine against Grady Seasons.

I think his longest part was in Taxi Driver when he had Deniro stop outside the building where he thought his wife was having an affair with a guy and he started talking about the 44 magnum, lol.

His voice in the intro sounds nothing like Tom Cruise. I can't believe that anyone would think that the voice was Tom Cruise. I always loved the intro. I always heard it every time I watched the movie. The loved The Hustler more though. Much better movie I think, but I really loved both movies growing up. The Color of Money is more interesting in a way, because I love the music, and Tom Cruise and Paul Newman were great. I always liked The Hustler more though.

me as well, i found about a couple months ago its to me MS, i listened to is a few times in a row, its not Tom C. you have to listen real carefully to tell tho.

"Luck itself is a art"<------how strong is that? and its true in everything in life.

Just curious.....How many of you have watched the movie thousands of times but neglect to listen to the intro from Martin Scorcese ?

I never really thought about the voice until you asked the question... even though I knew the words well that were being quoted in the opening prelude to the movie. I just popped it in and watched the beginning and it's definitely not Cruise (but has a similar pitch to the voice). Have watched it countless times (I don't know about "thousands" though), and it's a boost for me at the table after I've watched it. It seems that every time that I happen to catch it on TV, after-wards (of course) I will head into the game-room and shoot for awhile. I always shoot red-hot after watching "TCOM" or "A Game of Pool" (Twilight Zone) whenever it is just by happenstance. I've tried watching either on purpose and it doesn't work the same.
For me I think that it's a boost because back in '86 when the movie came out, I was one of those guys hustling at the tables nearly every day and night.

On a different note (not trying to hijack this thread mind you)... does anyone know who actually made the opening shot in "A Game of Pool"? It's a tough shot. I've tried it 20 or 30 times... come close a few times (with the table setup exactly the same) but never made it. I'm afraid of wearing a dead spot into my end rails so I just gave up on it.
