Fu Jian Bo v Xu Meng - First Round
Fu won the leg, but broke with nothing…Xu took on and picked solids. He potted 3 balls and then unfortunately positioned the cue ball at a bad place… He aimed carefully but still missed the shot.. Fu got back to the table, and took his time, cleared the table.
Fu broke and had to shoot safety after 2 solids potted. Xu fought back with safety and left Fu with a very hard position. Fu shot too hard, the ball did not go into the tight pocket. At this moment, 3 pairs of big and smalls are close to each other on the table.. Xu banked on of the strips and got a good poison on his next shoot – combo shoot. The target ball went in with no problem but the left with no shot next. Xu failed to play a good safety and Fu smartly clear 3 balls but had to come to a strategically safety with not managed to kick number 3 off a strip.. But he successfully got a ball in hand with the safety he left. He cleared all he remaining solids but got a banking position on the 8. He aimed the shot, lined up and potted the 8….Applauses.
Fu got his good break and it is almost going to be a run-out but the cue ball was far out of the range when Fu potted his last solid. He then missed the shoot on 8 but left it blocking 2 strips, where Xu used to play safety. Fu foul, Xu cleared the table.
Xu broke with nothing, Fu came back to table and picked strips and easily run out the table, leading ………3-1.
Another nice break, Fu cleared 6 balls but fail cut the 2 balls into left corner, but cue ball was behind the 8. Hard shot for Xu. After several tries, he decided to use a high bridge. The cue ball ran very slowly after hitting one strip…no cushion. Fu quickly pot his last solid and then the 8…..4-1.
Fu broke with nothing…Xu came up , cleared 7 strips, but failed to pot the 8, with a long distance shot. Again, Fu took the chance and cleared the table…5-1 leading…
Fu had his poor break again. Xu this time, did not let the chance fly…7 solids then shot 8 into the middle pocket. 5-2.
Xu broke, picked the solids and again, had to shoot combo from a hard position he left for himself. Fu missed his shot after Xu missed the combo, and another round back and forth, finally, Xu got a chance and won out this tuff one. 5-3
Powerful break but no balls gained from Xu. Fu easily cleared all solids and won his 6th frame…6-3
Fu’s break not no good at all and left Xu with a position easily enough to clear the table…6-4
No balls went in fro Xu’s break, solids are easy enough fro Fu to pot then but unluckily, the 8 ball was clocked by 2 strips after the last solid was potted. Fu managed to touch the 8 after hitting the cushion. But obviously Xu won’t let the change go by…6-5
Fu got his chance back to play with Xu’s empty break. But carelessly missed an easy middle pocket shot. Xu obviously was not thinking about chance of going back, he missed one easy corner shot. This time Fu fought back…7-5
No balls at the break, Xu stopped his running at his last strip. Fu cleared the table..8-5 leading…
Fu had his first sound break and carried on to have his 1st run-out….9-5
Everybody was thinking the end of this match, but Fu unluckily kicked one solid to behind the strip. Xu back to shoot to the end…9-6.
Xu had a nice break but the cue ball scratched as well after 2 color balls went in. Fu confidently and steadily locked his last point…10-6
2nd match Fu jianbo vs.Chu Hong Ming
Chu won the leg, broke with no balls. Fu picked strips, 3 balls potted, stopped at a straight combination shot. Chu returned Fu with a safety. Got to shoot again, won out the game.
Chu’s break…ended with scratch of the cue ball. Fu came back with 1:1 tie.
Fu broke and made one strip in the middle but he picked solids right away and had his first run out. 2:1
A very nice break from Fu, 3 balls potted, cue ball was almost over the side pocket but was hit into the middle pocket by 3 ball. Chu had his ball in hand and strips were easy enough for him to make the score tight again….2-2
Chu broke and shot solids, however he missed his 2nd pot on the 4 into the middle. Strips were not easy to finish. Fu was not able to break a 3-ball set and got back to seat with a safety shot. Chu easily pot the 3 but cue ball ran back and hit the 8 into the group of strip balls. Fu got back to shoot 3-2
Fu did not get his feeling back on the break. However Chu was left to only have strips shoot. He did not shoot the easy strip but a long one…missed. Fu picked strips but did left a slim cut 12 ball not potted. Solids were hard. Banked one, combo made one in, missed one straight long shoot. Fu finished 3 strips on the table and cut the 8 to the corner. 4-2
Fu’s break again. The white ball jumped very high after hitting, onto the side rail then rolled to hit the only ball into the corner pocket. Fu maybe too happy about this gift, missed the close shot on the 7..Open table!! Chu seemed to like strips better. After one 3-rail of the cue ball, Chu pot his last color ball in, then 8 ball…4-3
Chu was very serious about the rack this time. It took over 5 mins before he decided the rack was good. But after his powerful break, all colors balls remained on the table. Fu was able to clear as many as he could but was stuck at a very thin cut of his last 5 ball…foul. Chu took the cue ball and came back with 4-4 tight.
Fu couldn’t finish all his balls after Chu’s empty break, but left Chu’s 1 ball surrounded by 2 strips. Chu pot 5 ball in and kicked 1 out from the strip but missed easy angle of the 3 ball. However Fu’s miss make the his score 4-5, 1 frame behind Chu. Chu leading.
Chu broke with one color in, but fail to pot to choose color. However Fu scratched on his 2nd shoot and left Chu with hard work of solid balls. Chu showed his intelligence with 2 kicks making all his balls potable and potted. 6-4, 2 frames leading
2 quick break and run-out, 8-4 leading…
Chu did not make any balls at the next game. Fu finished the game with one shoot, 8-5…
Not sure if rack or break was bad, after Fu’s break shot, the table was massed by over 10 balls close to their rack place. Chu came up and started to pot solids. He soon decided to play a difficult carom shot but the ball was rejected by the tight pocket. Fu picked up his chance, however, the mass balls in the racking area were not easy. To be safe, Fu pot one out of them and left 2 annoying the 8 and 1 of Chu’s solids. Chu very smartly swapped all the solids but left himself with a long cut shot on the 8 and missed with 8 left at the pocket area. Fu played a snooker cue ball behind 15. Chu stroked a long bank shot and managed to pot the 8 in the corner. 9-5
Chu had a nice break and solids seemed easy to finish. But the corner pocket said no to the 6 ball and to Chu as well. Fu came back to the table with his last hope but suspended his shooting when 12 needed a very thin cut but the cue ball was blocked behind 15. Chu tried cushion shot but failed to pot his ball. Fu very preciously controlled the cue ball at his every shoot till the end…9-6.
Fu’s break again with all his strength, but again nothing pocketed. Chu thought very carefully before his first shoot. 1st solid ball was potted but 2nd one was left on the table—not potted. Fu carried on his hope but still not had his feelings back. After his miss of cutting 15, Chu returned to the table and lock the score at 10:6
Day 2 Match 3 Furuta vs. Liu Wei
Liu won the leg and broke but with no balls in. Furuta picked solids ball and easily won the 1st …1:0
Furuta’s broke seemed to have same problems. Liu took a serious aim at 2 ball, potted, but scratch the cue ball in the up left corner. Furuta came back to the table. Again, strips picked, easy run-all …2:0
One break and run-out, Furuta 3:0 leading.
Furuta’s next break came back with nothing. Liu cleared all strips and won his first frame. 1:3, 2 frames behind.
Liu’s second break was as powerful but ‘bad’ as his first one. Furuta pot 6 strips in but missed the cut 14 ball. Liu did not let this chance fly by. 8 solid pottings, score changed to 2:3,. 1 frame behind.
Liu’s 3rd break was even more powerful. This time, 1 of each color balls was potted. However, cue ball was left only on solids. 3 were gone very shortly, but 1 ball was hit too hard and bounced out from the corner. But Furuta dramatically missed his 1 shoot at strip ball, which brought Liu back to the game again. Liu potted 2 solids but missed the position on his last one and had to shoot safety. The cue ball was left far from where Furuta’s strips were. Furuta missed his long pot and Liu however very bravely use a long bank shoot to pot his last 7, smartly got a good position on the 8 ball. 3-3 tight.
Liu had his 1st break and run-out, 4:3 leading…
Liu’s break was good enough to pot 3 balls in but he then picked to shoot a combo carom shot and missed. Table was left open. Neither Furuta nor Liu got a good chance to finish the game. After several rounds, Furuta broke the ice and got his 4th game. 4:4 tight, again.
Liu fought back after Furuta’s bad miss. Scores were now 5:4.. Liu’s leading.
Liu scratched on his next break. Furuta got ball in hand and cleared the table. 5-5 tight.
Furuta quickly got his 1st run-out and led the match at 6:5.
Another break and run-out, Furuta leading 7:5.
Liu came back to the table when Furuta had an empty break. Liu’s 1st stun shot was hard enough to kick his 14 out into a good shape. After several precious aiming and potting, scores were changed to 6:7, still 1 frame behind Furuta.
Liu got his break however scratch on the 8 ball left Furuta with an open table. After a well thought, Furuta managed to move 1 frame further ahead of Liu , 8-6
Furuta continued to have good break and carefully potted all his balls, 9-6 on the hill.
Again, 10-6 locked the score.
Match 4 Liu Wei vs. Xu Meng
Liu won the leg but was not able to pot any balls. Xu was not able to clear all his balls and left Liu with a very good chance to shoot safety. Liu shot very well to make Xu foul 3 times in a row and won his first frame. 1-0
Liu continued to had bad luck on his break. A few rounds back and forth, Liu shot tactically and got his 2nd win…2-0
This time, his break was good enough for Liu to make his run-out. 3-0, leading.
Liu broke, balls potted, but cue ball scratched. Xu seemed not serious at the game. He kept missing his middle pocket shoot. However, Liu’s 8 ball was a nightmare. Xu carried on his last strip then the 8…1-3..
Xu broke with nothing. Liu unfortunately missed the 8 ball, left it close to corner pocket. Xu made a snooker and Liu missed the masse shot. Xu came back and got his game..2-3.
Xu had his 2nd empty break. 2 players exchanged a few rounds. Xu got his chance after played a good safety…3-3 tight.
3nd empty break for Xu. Liu got his 4th win after several rounds’ attack and defense. 4-3.
Liu broke and made 1 strip ball, but cue ball was pushed close to the corner pocket by 2 solids, left no shot. Liu’s safety was no good. Xu got back and solidly ran out the table. 4-4 tight again.
Liu fought back when Xu had his empty break again. 5-4 leading…
Liu had a nice break, but missed 1 ball to the corner which was an obviously easy shot. After both players’ miss, Xu eventually secured the scores to 5-5.
Xu had his good break, started to pot, however his last shot on the color ball make the 8 into the middle pocket!! Loss of the frame. 5-6 behind Liu.
Liu had his 1st run out after break. Leading 7-5…
However Liu’ 2nd one was stopped by missing a cut on 4 ball to the corner. Xu got 1 frame back.. Scores now 7-6. Liu still leading..
Xu’s break was empty. Liu picked strips but could not finish them all. Xu came back to the table and set the score to 7-7 tight.
Xu kept having bad breaks. Liu was then brought back to the game with a convincing win…8-7, 1 frame ahead of Xu.
Liu got his 2nd B&R..on the hill now..9-7.
Liu had a nice break but cue ball was off the position for him to continue shooting after his 1st shot. After a few rounds of safety, Xu caught his chance to finish this tough frame. 9-8.
Xu kept his advance with Liu’s couple of misses. 9-9 …both are on the hill.
Unluckily, Xu had an empty break on this deciding frame. Liu confidently secured his win at one shot. 10-9..
