I know things

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some comments on this game (link at bottom). I've been playing pool for 9 months now and play 8-ball in a VNEA league. In February I did a pool school with Randy (which was fantastic).

I see quite a few things in my play that should be worked on but I'd love some outside input as well. (Especially in terms of shot selection, and 8-ball strategy, since I seem to be having trouble with that.)

OnTheMF...I like the way you had your own 'comments' in there. Very innovative. First thing I noticed, and you did too, was that you were not doing the same thing each time in your shooting PSR. Second...where the heck is your eye pattern? It was nonexistent. You just drop down and start moving your cue. You need to focus on the CB and OB first, before you start your warmups. Third...no set, or a very short set, on many shots. This doesn't allow your subconscious to really decide if you're "ready" or not. Fourth...Top 8ball players always find their "8ball liability" before they even start on the table. This means seeing if there is a path for the 8ball naturally, or do you have to create one. You also have to find a link ball to the 8...hopefully a stop shot. Fifth...no matter what someone tells you, good players play 3rd ball position...not the entire runout. They certainly look at the whole table, but they are thinking only 3 shots at a time.
Overall, I like what you're doing, but it seems like you're in too much of a hurry. It's time to review your pool school book. Additionally, there's nothing wrong with taking a lesson in strategy play...once your process is bullitproof, so that you can actually hit the CB the way you want to...on purpose, under pressure, in one try! :D

Well I would like to start with the positives.
You have come a long way, I'm happy for you. Your Mechanics are starting to show up on every shot.

I agree with Scott. SET is too short. Mantra changes ever so often. Time to go back to Mother Drills #1-2-3. Also time for a free refresher.

Good job

Thanks for the help guys. Neil, good point on the cue ball control.

Randy/Scott, I will work on the things you mentioned over the next few weeks. Thanks again!

Cheers.
