I knew that was going to happen and I deserve the ribbing. I should have been more clear. I've been to the site of course, but I just noticed that the rules on the site are not all of them. You have to order the book for the complete version and I am impatient.
If I must order the book I must, but one of the other reasons is that it's a pain in the butt if you get into an online rules discussion and you can't just copy and paste the rule in question.
What rules are missing?

I play in a weekly 8-ball tournament here at Chris's and the guy who runs it said that BCA rules prohibit jumping using the "darting' technique. That's when I noticed that most of the rules posted were just sections and when I hit the link I thought would take me to the complete version, I got routed to their book sales page.
I didn't see any rule against "darting", but I heard that somewhere before. Maybe it's a special rule in certain leagues or tournaments or something? I'll keep looking.
I have an old cutech that I put a phenolic tip on for breaking, and if I use just the shaft, (not legal length, I know) if I dart it, I can pop the cue ball over another ball from as close as 1/2 a ball away. It's got to be too good to be true. I was also wondering what the equipment rule requirements were for an attachement as far as materials go. Heck, I'd just as soon tape a paper towel tube on there and call it a day!
But seriously, something as light and legal as possible is what I'm wondering about.Did I just hijack my own thread.

No problem, my friend. I still don't know why the BCA site doesn't have the compete set of rules, but instead you have to go to the WPA site to get them. I also don't think they mention that BCA rules are the same as world standardized rules, which I believe they are.
Rule 1.4 mentions extenders, but it doesn't seem to require any certain type of extender. So I'd think anything is OK, even the paper towel tube. Very clever idea!
There is also an equipment section (WPA Tournament Table and Equipment Specifications), where rule 17 mentions cues. It must be at least 40" long. I just saw these the other day, which made them easy to find again.
I'm not sure about the darting motion though. Perhaps there's a section that defines a legal stroking motion, but I could not find it. I'm pretty sure Bob Jewett would know the answer.
