Great job at the DCC. I think it can only mean good things for 14.1 to be played on such a large platform. I'd like to ask you, was it alot different playing alone and just having to run balls as opposed to being in a match and having to play the safety game? Also, did you think 139 would ever get the high run before the tourny? I'm sure the tough tables kept the runs a little shorter....

Thanks, Gerry

Nice job in DCC, Danny.

A friend of both of ours, Bob "Hippie" H. (guitar player, good pool player) says you warm up every day you practice by running a 100 balls at 14.1. How long have you done this and what's your high run? Did you learn 14.1 from others or are you basically self taught?

A lot of the younger breed seem to have been tutored by some of the old champs; Dennis Hatch, Corey Deuel, J. Archer were helped by guys like Jimmy Caras, Varner,etc... and they were running 200-300 balls before they were able to legally drink.

Are you planning on playing in Charlie Williams 14.1 event?

Danny; Do You Give 14.1 Lessons?

I Was At Dcc During The Final Last Shot At The Straight Pool Room Tournament And 4' Away From The Greatest Breakshot I Have Ever Seen In 14.1. Your Masse' Of The Straight In Shot And Breaking The Rack And Following By Continuing The Run Was Hard To Believe. I Was So Close I May Have A Better Appreciation For The Skill Required To Make The Shot And Break The Rack With Several Shots. Wow!!!

I Love 14.1; Give Lessons?

Congratulations on your outstanding play, Danny. Well done!
Yeah, what SJM said! :)

Danny, it was great to see you again. You look great and haven't aged a day since I met you... I'm jealous! :p

Thank you for the good question

W01.3
well Gerry it is more of a battle against yourself, since you are your own opponent and also the only one at the table. We are in essence are own worse enemies at times and are own biggest fans.

I have run over 200 hundred three times and my high run is 312, when I was very young a close friend of my father's gave me Willie Masconi's book on Pocket Billiards. He was a good player, then I saw the motion picture The Hustler and that also had a major influence on me. As I became an accomplished 9-ball player I met Jeanette Lee out on the tour and she would want to allways practice straight pool with me. At first I thought the game was to easy, now I realize more how much fun the game really is. Back then there was more structure in pool and not so much about who you knew, I do not think that I was on the Invitational list for Charlie's Straight Pool tournament. Charlie and I were at one time friends but over the years he has become a big promoter and even though we still say hello I do not think I will be playing in many of his "invite tournaments" , but if I were invited and I think he does have my #, I would love to compete against the best 14.1 player's of today as I feel I might be one of them.
