Constructive criticism- IPT coverage

There should be one groups page with all the groups and basic data and you simply click for more detailed info. This way you can simply refresh one page. The problem is scott I suspect the data isn't stored in a DB, they seem to use a lot of pdf's!

Viewing the source, usually if the page is dynamically created (i.e. data drawn from a DB and code generated on the fly), you'll see odd spaces in the code, line-feed-wise - and I don't see any of that. But the end bit of the URL - the .asp page, the "G=##" with ## being the group number - is a sign of dynamic content.

Yeah looked afterwards, was referring to the brackets in the past for the qualifiers more than anything, if thats the case there's certainly no reason why they can't pull the sores out on the group page. I'm with chris in that this page only really need show the scores, with all the other stats shown when you clcik on the group

Well we've certainly raised a variety of points in this thread between us all haven't we. Maybe the AZ forums can become the unofficial IPT thinktank!

They do need ...

First, the stats they provide are good, IMO, and the screen layouts are done well (you do not have to page right and left on a line). Kudos for that. (so many websites and email programs should pay attention to that).

They do need a drop down on the group scorecards, so you can jump from group to another group at the other end. For example, you want to follow a player in group 2, and another one in group 18. It is cumbersome to have to page through all the groups to get to group 18. A jump group
drop down would be much faster.

A search for 'player' would be nice too, but not really necessary. I could then just put 'Owen' to search for, and it would take me to his group scorecard. I do think there scorecards are done well with the basic data, and easy to read. They get a kudo for that. I like the country flags and pictures on them too. (Course, Walden needs to take one without his cap sometime ... lol)

I have a feeling the 'live scoring' is the best we can do for this tournament, but will better for future tournament type thing. They are making improvements, they just need feedback, and more time.

The fact that 'live matches' are not on cable to us here in the USA just burns my butt. That certainly needs to be corrected. And I want them available at Blockbuster.

IMO, when they get down to 18 players, they should report matches, game by game updates.

It will probably never be perfect, but the IPT is definitely making strides, and Pool is getting better everyday. kudos for that.

Something to consider is this is their first real BIG event. I'm sure they're learning a lot about how to, and how NOT to, do various things. I'd wager that the world open event will see some nice improvements on various things as far as we, The Great Internet Unwashed, are concerned.

I have no complaints except one for the stats. I wish it was in an Excel format, so we could rearrange by wins, percentages, etc. instead of alphabetically.

It's no secret that Deno reads what he we post here on this forum...I see his user name pop up at the bottom of the screen numerous times. I think the forums are the best places to get real constructive criticism on how things ought to be done.

I'd like to think that the IPT discarded the GLI system by reading the numerous critiques on this very forum. So it does appear that the IPT listens to what we folk have to say.

On another note...

I've posted this in the past, but I think it would awesome to post live CueTable (wei table) updates on their web site for the TV matches, such that us Americans who aren't fortunate enough to have TV coverage can sweat the premiere matches on a live shot by shot basis.

You only need one employee and one computer linked to the web to do this service. This person should only be familiar with the CueTable software, and pretty quick with the mouse. After each shot, the person would just modify the table layout, and upload the link to the website.

What's great about this is that you can create an archive and history of exactly how some of the matches unfolded, shot by shot.

EDIT: Heck, you don't even need an IPT employee. Anyone watching the match on TV can do this. LOL. Any volunteers?
