Contacts for the first time! Any downsides?

Aye Chihuahua! I can see! lol

As soon as I got the "Trial" pair of contacts, I hit the table and was absolutely blown away. Yes there was a constant feeling of a drop of cold water on each eye, but still, compared to glasses?

I had no idea how important, or maybe helpful is a better word, having good periphial vision seems to help playing pool well.

What's the catch? :D

What kind of contacts did you get?
Originally I had 8-hour wear contacts which sucked since at that time I worked an 8-5 then shot pool.
Since then, I have wemt to Acuvue Oasys..which I absolutely LOVE!
I wear them all day, sleep in them, shower in them......then on the 7th day i take them out and let my eyes relax.....then the next day they go back in again for the next 6 days....

Dry eyes. Also, there are times when I blink and the contact slides out of place a little. That can really mess with your mental focus.

i see better with glasses but play pool better with contacts cuz i dont have to worrow about glasses slidin down face all the time!!! my opinion is contacts is the way to go!! your game will definitely jump IMO...

I wear disposables which are much better than daily wears. The biggest downside is playing in a very smokey pool room which will dry your eyes out so bad that you get a halo effect on all the balls.

I just went to the eye doctor to get a pair of prescription safety glasses so the only time I am wearing contacts is when I am playing which should give my eyes a good rest during the week.

mine didn't jump. Didn't get worse, but it didn't jump either. of course, my vision may not be as bad either.

I wear them. Monthlys.

I have no problems at all. I recommend getting a little 10 or 15ml bottle of Visine and putting it in your pool bag just in case. Just be sure to get the kind thats for contact lenses.

These are a trial pair and I'm not sure exactly what kind they are, but I've been told not to leave them in overnight.

Thanks for the tip on the Oasys. The prescription I have for these contacts is for pool only so I'll still take them out at the end of the night. It's about halfway between intermediate and distance. It was a pain getting the glasses right, but even then, you had to stand still and move your head around to really digest things correctly. Now I can size the table up as I'm walking around. Holy shmoly, what a difference!

I actually would prefer the smoking thing to be more of an issue, but Chicago's been smoke free for a little over a year now anyways.

Thanks for the tips!

Technically glasses are supposed to provide you a greater vision range then contacts - but that is purely math.

I wear both and can tell you then when I wear my contacts I see a noticeably about more of the table then without contacts.

However - I would recommend you carry with you a spare case/solution, and possibly some extra contacts.

Bc of chalk, and possibly eye irritation you very well might get some chalk in/on your contact - and its hurts like a *****. Have an extra set in case you need to change or have your glasses as back up.

Everybody that says Vision is right - get the "For contacts" version.

Good luck!
