Controlling your adrenaline? Staying calm?

hi!
try a complete focus on your preshot routine, walk around the tabke focusing only on the cloth, pockets, and the angles you will be using, no matter if you make the shot, there are no mistakes, only lessons, relax your back, neck and arms, its not world peace that is on the line, only a challenge you can step up to and you have done it before!, trust your muscle memory, if you make the shot or not, once it done its over and no one will remember it except you, there will always be someone better and worse than you, we are all in stages of learning, i like to practice solo with a mp3 player on, it helps me to block out outside noise, movement and most of all it my game, my little moment in the sun in my relationship with the balls and the green cloth I play on. relax, its supposto be fun!! it can be daunting having a gallery watching you but who cares, its a public place right? do it for yourself and dont be hard on yourself if you miss, you are trying and learning so the naysayers and just really not your concern at all. solo practice is what gives me my "pool high" then when I play leauge, i can do the shots i have learned in practice.
No one comes out of the womb knowing how to do this, we are all in the process of learning.and remember the balls are round, they will roll, they are not naughty balls that need to be punished, treat them gently and they will respond for you!
enjoy!

They are both equally destructive and caused by "out of balance" expectations.

im excited im going to win not nervous or scared of loosing lol

That's a "fear of winning", fear and excitement register similarly in the central nervous system.....it's the long, lost brother of "fear of losing" cleverly disguised as "excitement". They are both equally destructive and caused by "out of balance" expectations.

Thanks everyone for the info and help. I am going to try some of these things that CJ has mentioned. Need to clear my mind and put all focus into the table not who's around or what is going on around me and so on..especially try not to get excited that I'm running racks...A big part of it is where you are in your life. I finally have got a job I like and don't have to stress on winning because low on cash or whatever is going on. I'm getting to the point where I am able to free stroke but dissect the table at the same time...Back up to being able to practice 2-4 hrs everyday after work now so that's a major plus...
Again thanks CJ and everyone for your info..

all feelings and emotions will pass so there's not reason to "buy into them".

I would suggest treating every shot the same, and try to keep a constant internal temperament. Focus on keeping your breathing slow and precise when you feel that "excitement" coming on....it will pass....all feelings and emotions will pass so there's not reason to "buy into them".....what wan't pass is your attitude.

Work on making your attitude confident and consistent while playing - shoot shots that will win, and not lose games, and don't shoot shots that can lose, but not win games. 'The Game is Your Teacher'
