Conversion to carom stroke

Many times, I meet pool players showing interest to a carom billiards.
Yes, I can show them how to make a point with 3 rails, a few tips for various carom shots.
But when I let them roll some balls by my instructions usually they just blew the shots with their pool stroke.
Right, the problem is my poor English.
Can anyone describe the difference and how to in plain English?
I will capture the screen and show pool players to help them understand.
Thank you carom friends.

HAH! I have the same issue.
I'll introduce my Carom game on pocket tables & they're thinking, I must drop that ball & BAM they miss.
So I tells'm, think QB (cue-ball) contact to 1st OB (object ball) as if you're trying to pocket the 2nd OB. So they go off stroking hard on the CB thinking they need speed to reach the 2nd OB. But after the bounce of the spinning CB off the 1st OB imparts curve and they see it go off line, from the 1st OB to the 2nd OB. THATS when they realize they have to stroke the CB smoothly. Once they understand that, they make their own contact adjustments for that imparted curve.

Sadly, Caroms isn't pocketing balls and they're thinking it's a never ending game so they get bored quick.
BUT MY Caroms game cures that boredom. ;)

I have been playing more lately and my average is improving. I played about 4 hours yesterday and attempted to use natural impact angles and speed, rather than force and manipulation of those angles.

My average is probably up to .0003, from .00003. 10x better, hahahaha.

It is coming to me and I think I will continue to improve relative quickly, as I at least have good striking skills.

I played about 4hr last night with other people and made about 45 points. ..and I only miscued once.

Did you use a cue stick or a hammer?

Shit! I have a choice? This changes things greatly.

Haha. Played again yesterday. FOR NINE HOURS, seriously.

I am gonna need to get a real billiard table for me. And a room big enough for it and a pool table too.

Seriously my view is that learning to play pool without instruction drives folks to punch the CB.
Punching has many advantages when simply trying to pocket an OB. It reduces the possibility of a faulty stroke, and minimizes unwanted CB travel.

Basically, if you learn the game without instruction, you learn to never let go of the CB. It can only move between
6"- 6'. Everyday pool players have a hard time releasing the CB and therefore can't or don't let their swing flow Through the CB

Going THROUGH the CB is IMO the difference.

I think the biggest thing I learned from 3-cushion was the value of cue ball accuracy.
You can be slightly vague at pool and snooker if you have a cue that suits you....
...at 3-c, you’ll miss some shots by a mile if you’re vague on the hit.
