I was just unpacking a box of pool books to add to our new built-in shelves in the Gameroom. The third book out of the box was 99 Critical Shots in Pool, and I could see I had some things in the pages. I flipped through and found sheets from a notepad from about 40 years or so ago where I had made notes of stuff I needed to work on. (These will come in handy as I begin again.) But, among other things, was Steve Mizerak's business card and autograph.
Many years and a different lifetime ago, I worked at the psychiatric hospital in Nashville. A co-worker and his wife were on vacation and were eating at a steakhouse somewhere in the middle of the country. They noticed people going up to a table and thought it may be a celebrity so they asked the waiter, who explained it was Steve Mizerak. Now, the co-worker was not a pool player, but he knew I was. So, he went over and asked for an autograph for me, and Steve was gracious enough to provide one.
I had forgotten I even had it. Can't wait to get back and see what else I find in that old box.
